Which deals more damage to the undead, destruction spells like fire, or the sun spells from DG?

Contrary to some belief, Undead deos not have any weakness to fire. Be that Destruction, Enchantment or Torch.

EDIT : Aside from Vampires...of course.

However, As for which is capable of more damage..I would be so incline to agree with VGM and her post below.

I say destruction spells do more damage (especially with the necromage perk) . The sun spells do okay damage, I have often dual-wield them to do more damage.

Destruction does more rote damage.

Sun spells are more efficient in regards to damage/magicka. Only with both augmentation perks and some destruction cost enchants do they reach parity. Fire is the cheapest.

Let's take the Apprentice Missile spells for example. Firebolt vs Sunfire. Out of the three magical elements, Fire has the highest damage/magicka cost efficiency. Assume both Restoration and Destruction are at the same level, and the player has Apprentice expertise perks for both magical disciplines. Since Necromage applies for both, that is also a control variable.

Firebolt: 25 base damage, 41 base magicka cost, 60.1% efficiency at base

Sunfire: 25 base damage, 24 base cost, 104% efficiency at base

Add both Flame augmentation perks to Firebolt, and you get 37.5, which is 91% efficiency.

Awesome breakdown. Thanks.

Could you do the same for me with adept and expert level spells?
