Destruction

Post » Mon Aug 09, 2010 9:30 am

Hey guys im new to the forum. Anyway i have a simple qustion. How much destruction will featured in crysis 2 (if any at all) Destruction in games is number one for me and thats what creates realism and its a nice sight to see. I heard from somewhere that you could level entire buildings and im 50% positive that you might. I inspected one video of crysis 2 gameplay where one explosion on top of a small building blew the ceiling decorations to bits and another where some weird alien worm burt out of a building tearing it to shreds. Guys i NEED this answered. It would be just so amazing if it had red faction guerrilla physics. so, How much? is it like half life 2 where you can shoot a watermelon and it splits into 3 bits or you throw a grenade you blow a hole into the wall?

If you watch the videos that are out you will see that theres is some kind of destruction, how much is hard to say. I hope it would be something like BC2. To early to say yet. Perhaps somenoe that played the tech demo could tell us.

The destruction in SP is pretty limitless, but the MP destruction is kept to a minimum so you can't blow holes in the wall.

Obviously you can't take down skyscraqers in real-time, but its pretty damn limitless other than that. :P

In short Sp, damage and destruction = infinite
In Mp, limited and controlled :|

I would like tactical destruction (Blowing complete holes in walls, floors and ceilings etc.) It would add strategy and dynamically changing gameplay. Any word on this, Crytek?

This clearly is not the case. There is not going to be much destruction at all in this game.

Let me tell you a little something about how game marketing works. If there is any feature to a game that is in the least bit cool, they will shout about it from the rooftops.

If there was destruction on par with bad company 2, or even Crysis, we would know about it already. The fact that they have not emphasized destruction much in the videos so far, is a clear indicator.

I am telling you right now that this is the case. Don't expect much destruction in this game, or for it to play much of a role.

.

Have you seen the video that benchee posted?

I dont know what part of denting barrels and doors, and completely or mostly destroying concrete blocks etc was in Crysis/Warhead.

The most you had in crysis was knocking over shacks and throwing barrels and that sort....
Plus the famous Crytrees, but Crysis 2 definately has a lot more then its predessors.

The only reason crysis had so much shout out about its physics and its destruction was because it was released in 2007

P.s im talking about singleplayer not multi
