Detect Life items

Has anyone found a disenchantable item with "Detect Life"? That was my favorite spell in Oblivion. All my characters had it enchanted on something, as part of their gear. I have poor vision, and often the contrast in colors was/is not enough to notice a mob, if it isn't moving. I'll walk right into them sometimes. It's annoying, especially since the mob was just standing there, not trying to hide. Anyone else would have been able to see it. But, if it's glowing purple, you can't miss that.

This was more of an adaptation to personal disability, than a play style. But it was very useful. I understand, now, that undead and automatons won't glow with detect life, and while logical, it svcks for me. It's hard to explain how my vision is good enough to play the game, just not good enough to see the monsters all the time, before it's hitting me. And even then if it'san enemy archer. You get hit by an arrow, but, somehow, you don't know from which direction. THAT'S illogical. You spin around, but you can't see which battlement the archer is stationed at, because he looks too much like the stone for my crappy eyes.

Anyway, I'm looking for away to enchant a piece of gear with detect life to help me out.

Agreed....I have good eyesight and get jumped more often than I like (especially outdoors). Or Im spinning around going "where the hell did that come from" ...lol

Had I known the dungeons were not as dark as the ones in Oblivion I would have not taken a Khajit for his night vision (this was a life saver in Oblivion). I would have taken a Dunnmer for the detect life.

I have better than normal vision and things still blend together sometimes. Remember to always look for the red dot on your compass at the top of the screen.

I was sneaking through a cave once; totally missed an enemy sitting in a chair in a room while I assassinated his friend who was standing on the other side. After I cleared the cave and was running back I practically ran into him while trying to get to the book on the table he was sitting at thinking the place was cleared.

Anyways to the topic at hand. I have yet to see anything enchanted with detect life...I believe there is a spell in alteration? I read in the "Hints and tips for leveling magic" thread in this section that spamming the spell detect life was a good way to level. So I would think it exists? I truly miss the Grey Fox's Cowl though; that thing was amazing.

Apparently they decided detect life was too good. In skyrim it's only available as a channeled cast (not a duration after casting) and enemies will hear you channeling if you don't have any kind of sneak/muffle/silent casting going on.

Wound up being useless for my build.

Ah figures. They thought it would make the game better if you ran straight into mobs that were just standing there. Hey well, at least Skyrim's not overpowered! (as if such a thing were possible in a single player game. Can't be more stupidly powerful than another player, because you are the only one playing it. And there are no character classes to balance, even if there were)

I'll look for that shout, though, thanks for the advice all

I was the same way all throughout Fallout. Does Bethesda have something against color?
