Deus Ex let us remove the yellow outlines...

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 1:50 pm

I really, really appreciated that Eidos allowed us to turn off object highlighting, waypoints, on-screen button prompts, etc. in DX:HR. The devs actually listened to fan feedback and made a game we could customize to our liking.

Needless to say, I enjoyed that game immensely more thanks to being able to eliminate the obtrusive hand-holding elements. Will Arkane give us similar options in Dishonored?

I love these types of games, but I really don't need an on-screen button prompt telling me the different inputs for a lethal or non-lethal take down EVERY TIME I sneak up on an enemy. That kind of crap seriously makes me want to pull my hair out.

Please just give us options, like Eidos was wise enough to do. Allow us to play without the hand-holding.

Yeah, I think adding an option like this would be reasonable.

Needless to say I believe it safe to assume that Arkane will not include any highlighting of any sort.
But if they do include something of this nature, an option to turn it off would be appreciated.

There is highlighting in the game. It's kind of unpolished but that's because the demos are old and are probably a little bit better looking by now. Arkane mentioned that there will be lots of customization options even turning off parts of the HUD. I believe they will add the option to remove the highlights.

It has been previously stated that each HUD element can be toggled off, so I would assume highlighting can be too

Ahh, I stand corrected. Thanks for clearing that up.

Fortunately, Arkane seems to be committed to allowing the player a great deal of freedom.

I'll do my best to be informed before I post again.

That's definitely good news. When were the HUD toggles confirmed?

I confirm, almost all HUD U.I. elements are toggleable would you not want them.
