US Dialect "test"

Post » Tue Dec 24, 2013 10:28 am

The test is 25 questions about words you use or how you pronounce words. It compiles the answers and picks the 3 cities where the general speech pattern is closest to your answers. Since one of the 3 cities happens to be the one I live in (born 40 miles from here), I'd have to say it's at least fairly accurate.

Test and share.

edit- I guess the results map isn't postable.

First question was something about traffic I didn't know the answer to. Instafail...

Many of the questions include the choices of "other" or "I have no term".

I know it exists, just don't know what it is. Feels like I would be cheating if I marked those. I'll take it in a few years when my English is improved.

It's mainly aimed at native English speakers from the US. It would give results weighted to both where you were born and where you now live.

I imagine that people coming to the US from elsewhere would end up scoring as from they area they now live in.
