Dialogue and FPS problem

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:04 am

The game runs very slow (probably5-8 fps) when a character is speaking but runs like butter when there is no dialogue going on. My specs are as follows:

Intel core2quad 9650 clocked to 4ghz
Gtx 295
4 gig Ram
Soundblaster XFI Fatality Soundcard
Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit

Could this be a sound card driver issue? (I tried setting everything to low with the same result).

sounds like it is sound (:D). if its only happening when a character is speaking, then it more than likely is sound-card based. try updating drivers, if tried, try a diff card if you can

Running Win 7 x64

Video Card: GTX260M, I am having the same problem. FPS drops to 15 or less when I engage dialog with someone. As well I notice the frame rate is all over the place however I can deal with FPS issues bouncing around but not going from 50 FPS to 15 every time I speak with a character in game. I tried installing new drivers, installing older drivers. Re-imaged my machine with a recovery disk, reinstalling everything (including the video drivers) still the same problem in the game. I updated the video drivers once again, same problem.

I've tried everything, including uninstalling sounds drivers, resintalling and updating. Still issues, frustrating!

Same problem here.

I'm running:

Windows 7 x64
GeForce GTX285
XiFi Xtreme Audio
6GB PC1600
Core i7 950
Asus P6T Motherboard

Running all the latest updates and drivers. Tried low, medium, and high settings. Tried windowed vs. full screen. Tried different speaker configs and audio quality settings. All XiFi enhancements have been disabled.

Nothing seems to make a difference. If I'm running around the very opening area, for example, I'm rocking ~90 FPS on High settings. As soon as I talk to the Doc, FPS drop to 47. Soon as he stops talking, FPS are back up into the 90s. Seeing the same thing elsewhere in the game with other characters.
