Did anyone else get their strategy guide today?

Post » Thu Oct 04, 2012 4:10 am

I was really surprised. I ordered the guide and game from GameStop and assumed they'd be shipped together on Monday or Tuesday.

I haven't really looked through it yet, but there are 11 'Missions'. I'm not sure if it's the same guide as on Amazon - it's around 250 pages.

So, anyone else?

I haven't read through them, but I doubt that includes various side missions if that helps.

I'm not going to even read anything about the missions, just the powers/bone charms, etc. to get familiar.

I would never post anything to spoil anyone else's game.

Thank you because if you did I might have to warn you for posting spoilers in general and that would make me use time I could use for baking cookies to eat while playing the game.

Just as a note, we don't allow posting spoilers in the general section so if you do happen to see one please report it. And as a caution, we don't allow direct quoting from anywhere except maybe a line or two for the purpose of explaining things. Even then, if it's a spoiler it belongs in a spoiler section.

I noticed that, but it's the same guide. It must be a typo, because it is actually 252 pages.

Also, Amazon has changed their description of the book signficantly from a couple of months ago.

No problem whatsoever. I am new to this forum, but not to forums in general, and, like I said, I have no intention of reading the missions -- it would spoil the fun of discovery. I was just so surprised it arrived early.

There were rumors about other magical powers beyond the ones we've seen Corvo use in the videos. Without going into detail about them, could you just confirm whether we've seen every ability or not?

Do missions have different parts to them? Because otherwise I can't see how 11 missions could add up to 24 hours of playtime. Hell based on what we have seen I can't picture 11 missions lasting 10 hours.

Are you sure its 11 missions not 11 chapters and each chapter could have multiple missions to it?

Maybe you simply can spend 2 hours exploring a whole mission. I mean exploring and playing stealthy.
Anyway, 11 missions is good for me. I've always prefered quality over quantity.

What we've seen of "the golden cat" and "caldvin's bridge" has only been parts of the missions, not their entire lengths.

Someone currently playing through the game mentioned that they played for over 2 hours before starting the first actual mission, so chances are there will be plenty to pad out the experience.

@Last Dual

It describes powers as follows:

6 Active Powers
4 Passive Powers (enhancements)

35 Original Bone Charms

Does that answer you question?

@celiria rose

The book describes (in the Table of Contents) Missions. I'm not going to read them so I really don't think I can adequately answer your question. I'm assuming the side missions are discussed therein as there's no subsection entitled 'Side Quests'. However, that could simply be a shortcoming of the book and they aren't dealt with in detail.

In vein of Lastdual'ss question,

Are there any weapons/gadgets/equipment that we haven't heard of?

A simple yes/no will be more than enough :)

Close that book! Stick it in a drawer safe somewhere..enjoy the game fully first then read up on everything then! I never use guides for actual gameplay,but i love the character and concept art. I'm sure this guide has a wealth of info which is why I'm happy I bought mine. :D
