I have not tried a mage yet but it's plain to see that mages do not have a very large selection of spells and have very little ways to augment their skills. Kind of seems like Beth is planning a big magic based DLC in the future that everyone will pounce on because of how limited it is currently. And of course there is always mods. I probably will not play a mage at all until an overhaul mod is released.
