Did Bethesda taunted you with touchy subjects?

Yes, I know taunting isn't the right word, but I felt as such when playing Skyrim.

Seriously, let's take the Civil War from Skyrim. Two factions, one for unity, the other for independance. Want to know why it's taunting me? Simple: I live in the only French-speaking province of Canada, who wants to split up from the country. But the problem is: I feel like the reason why my province didn't ended up like Greece, or worse, Detroit, is excatly the other, English-speaking provinces. Yeah, I know my province isn't in civil war and all, but still...

Anyway, did any game felt like twisting the knife by applying a situation which reminds you of something else that you're living?

P.S.: If this topic derails, I'll go get a mod and it will be over soon.

Divided we fall, united we stand. It just means we have to be careful who we stand behind.

I've seen people compare the civil war in Skyrim with either the American Civil War or the American Revolution. Both of which I didn't really see in this game. Civil wars happen. We weren't the first, nor the last nation to have a civil war.

AC: III did pretty much turn me off with the 'lolz your founders were stupid [censored] idiots lols!' Yeah, I get they weren't exactly nice men, but sometimes I get the feeling Ubisoft got lazy with this game. There was so much potential to show that both sides were in the right and wrong, and they blew it.

Other than that, no, I never really had a game remind me of where I was living. That's the point of games, to make me enjoy their world, not mine.

This right here.

I am all for discussion and opinions for whatever subjects are in games but leave the real world out of a fictional one (in some cases like AC III, semi-fictional). I would rather talk about a touchy subject from works of fiction than a political/religious discussion, more the reason why I like the "no politics/religion talk" in the forums.
