I always pre order my games so I am not sure but if some one did not pre order can he still get a copy at a midnight release?

Yes. Walk to local store, stand in line, pick up game, buy, exit store, return home, install, and enjoy. Simple.

its just a quick call and if theyre cool about it they reserve a copy for you

I didn't pre-order, I live in a student house in Liverpool UK, opposite a huge ASDA. Asked the bloke at the checkout yesterday about Skyrim and he said they're doing a midnight launch tonight but not taking pre-orders.

I got my husband to drop by the store to check they still had a copy.....then I got him to pre-order it for me (for the map) about an hour or so ago after cancelling my Amazon pre-order due to the fact I now think they svck.

They didn't seem concerned about a shortage. But it's not to late to pre-order for a pick up if you want the bonus map.
