Did ps3 discs get extra coated?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:35 am

So i began to play Skyrim on my Ps3 and i noticed everything is zoomed in and i can only read half of what will come up on my menus on sides like weapons is apons its ridicoulus, also the graphics are very very pixally and look like worse then oblivion, so i researched it and a man said about 1/2 of the Ps3 games got an extra coating on the disc by accidently, this coating is for scratch protection, etc. and he said to buy ajax ( i dont know what this is ) and take a sponge to it to remove the extra coating and by doing that the game will be normal and the reader wont have any problems like the zoomed in screen and choppy graphics. i dont know if this guy is right and i need advice because i dont want to try something they may hurt my new game =/ plz help can someone tell me if this is true? and if i should by ajax(what ever the hell it is) and try to remove this extra coating?

I read that on Yahoo Answers too. Ajax is a cleanser. Stuff that you'd use to clean your bath tub. Personally,I don't think I'd EVER attempt something like that. I'd rather return my copy for a replacement before I'd try something like that. As a matter of fact,I wouldn't try it AT ALL. If it's merely an issue with some copies,I'll return mine because I'm having the same problem. But I'm hoping the dev team can answer this for us.

I laughed out loud when I read this. Ajax is a strong household and industrial cleaner. The traditional powder includes the cleaning agents Calcium carbonate and Sodium Dodecyl Benzene Sulfonate. Either/both of these will damage the disc beyond repair and in all probability seriously damage the disc reading laser in the PS3.

yep, agreed - don't use agressive cleaners a) on data carriers and (more importantly) anywhere near your console. the things people write nowadays ...

The only cleaners you should ever use for your disc are ones that indicate that they are used to clean discs.
Ajax will tear right into the disc (not put a gaping hole or anything, but you understand I hope). The guy that gave you that info is a jerk for even suggesting that
