Did they change the release date?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 2:35 am

Why are people getting their game already? Today is the 9th of November. Release isn't till 11th.

Can we get some input on this? Yes, ..I am ready to start playing my first Elder Scrolls game but mine is via Steam.

I guess we get locked out and forced to follow the rules and have to wait 2 more days.

Seems PC Gamers get to wait while XBox 360 and PS3 players are jumping into the game.

Some stores might be decided with their wallets instead of honoring the street date. Not a big deal just don't click a topic if it looks suspicious.

Funny, because breaking street date in 2002-2003 came with a hefty $100 fine for each copy sold. I wonder how much it is today?

Stores who break the street date should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and shut down until managment is replaced.

.. they aren't breaking a law, they're breaking a contract. It comes with a fine, so no worries.

Yeah, I'm trying to be careful about what videos or forum threads I click on for the next two days. I want no spoilers, and it's a shame some people are either stealing games or shops are selling them early. Everyone should have to wait, but hey, at least PC users get our mods and toolset so...yeah, the console players who get it early might have the initial benefit but we get the long term bonuses. :foodndrink:

Why complain? This is not the first time this has happened, some stores break the rules and release games early.

Thursday night we get the game on steam, for us on the westcoast at 9pm (:

This. It's a civil dispute, not a 'crime'.

I'm not happy that stores are breaking the date, I would just like it if people who got their copies early would refrain from posting spoilers, complaining about bugs, etc, until the game is officially released.

First time buying a video game OP?

Some stores invariably break street date. This is nothing new, its been happening since the 80s.

A breach of contract is a civil matter, its not a criminal offense.

Street dates only exist to appease physical stores anyway.

That's gonna be interesting. It's also going to be interesting to watch all those thousands of people who pre-ordered TOR CE and SE but didn't get their pre-order code and may not even get their CE as a result, because that would require the store to specify how many CEs they want to order. LOL

As far as I'm concerned that is just as bad as breaking the law.

^^

In the UK, first class delivery is 1-2 days, so most places shipped their pre orders out today. 90% of them will be delivered on thursday, about 10% on friday, though some will get lost because the Royal Mail are pure fail.

Since the official launch is midnight, IMO they should have been posted a day earlier than this to make sure everyone gets them on Thursday for the midnight release.

Well put me down as one who would quickly run to my local retailers if they broke the street date, unfortunately they will not

Am I correct in thinking that if you are playing on PC, that even if the retailer sells the box to you today, you still won't be able to play it for another day and a half, because Steam will enforce the unlock date for all PC versions of the game?

Anyhow, even if they decided to be really nice to their fans and unlocked early on Steam, it wouldn't do me much good - I haven't planned much in the way of free time until Friday (took Friday off from work as a vacation day). Although, it'd be swell if I could start the installation/unlock process on steam at like 7:30 am or whenever I wake up, instead of having to wait until 10am. The 10am unlock means that the morning's almost over by the time I can even start the installation. Sheesh.
