After Kodlak is killed by the Silver Hand, and you have to go to his room to retrieve the last fragment of Wuuthrad (and pick up your unusual gem)...
did you take (steal) the coin purses, or anything else in his room?

I just couldn't bring myself to do it. :blush:

The fact it isn't marked as stealing, and the fact the bed is no longer owned, seems to imply it's your room once you're named the new Harbinger.

Actually I was talking about right after he's killed, and before the funeral/Ysgramor's tomb and being named harbinger. When you're just going into his room to retrieve the last fragment, it's all still marked as "steal" (except for the fragment and gem, and books in the outer room).
I've never gone back to his room after being named, I'll have to try that.
I was very moved by the journal, tho.

I stole the Daedra heart as soon as I saw it, when he was alive and well. I was making Daedric armor set at the moment and I was short on hearts.

If you wait until you become the harbinger, it's all yours without stealing anything.

The one time I did the companions quest was with a Nord axe and shield girl.
Kodlak was like a father to her after reading the journal I closed the door and never went in there again.
That was a very sad day for her so no she didn't even dream of stealing from him even after his death.

I didn't even know the man that well so yeah I stole his stuffs with little to no remorse. The companions quest line was so poor that you find yourself not getting to know your mates.

It's still labeled as stealing, so don't be surprised when you suddenly get three thugs sent after you by ghost Kodlak ... :devil:

I only took the fragment and the stone of Barenziah. My present character honors the dead.

Nah, because I had pretty much stolen everything of value while he was still alive. So thede wasnt anything for me to steal when he died.

I stole everything that wasn't nailed down. My character is a con/thief/assassin. The whole thing was one scheme so I could get in, scope it out, and rob the place blind...So yes, I stole everything I could...

I haven't taken anything from the Companions on my current character yet, but that is because she hasn't bothered to enter that dog's lair yet at all. On previous characters, I definitely stole their stuff, including the stuff of their alpha male.

Think of it this way, yeah you are a heartless for stealing from him while he is dead, but you save his soul TWICE. Once from Hircine's Hunting Grounds, and then from you know who in you know where at the end of the game, so I think your stealing from him is justified.

Stealling? Ah! That is what the nibenese and nords call it when this khajiit borrows things they are not using. It does not understand why they shout and holler so, they are not using it, so why mind. They need only ask for it back...
