I Didn't Know About the Glowing Sea

Post » Fri Jan 15, 2016 8:52 pm

Hi,

Preston Garvey instructed me to investigate a problem at Somerville Place. The marker on the map showed the location far to the south. I hadn't explored much in the southern portion of the Wasteland. So, I decided to do some looking around on my way to Somerville Place.

I started my journey south by fast traveling to the western part of the Wasteland, to Mass Pike Interchange, where I'd been before on a quest. I walked a bit further west to Poseidon Reservoir, a bit further west of Mass Pike Interchange. I then continued on my way south by foot, having never been further south to enable fast traveling.

Before long I found myself in the most god awful landscape I'd ever seen! I was taking radiation like crazy. I started popping RadX and Radaway, trying to survive. It finally dawned on me where I was. I sprinted as fast as I could east toward Somerville Place, trying to escape from this hellhole. I finally made it by the skin of my teeth. I now know about the Glowing Sear. Ha! It's not even a sea. :nope:

Yeah it isn't exactly the kind of place you want to go without being specifically prepared for it. Power armor with specific mods to reduce rads is kind of obligatory there.

Nah, rad-x and radaway are sufficient. Just don't go wandering into the pools of radioactive waste and you're fine

Hazmat Suit is your friend there - Becky Fallon often has one in stock. Can spend days in the Glowing Sea without running down fusion cores or gallons of Radaway.

Take your very best guns, tho, and lots of room for loot - some awesome locations out there.

Well, at least the glows are so massive it's like you're running in yellow seabed.

Yeah the Glowing Sea looks like something that Dante Alighieri might have envisioned in Inferno. The reality is pretty close to the vision as well.

One time I saw a Death Claw in my way, so I decided to position myself to take it out by surprise. What I didn't see was the Death Claw Alpha coming from behind me. It was bad.

I think Somerville place is the last Settlement I don't control and I'm reluctant to speak to Preston, because 'here are three quest' if I get near him........I could of course just walk in and shoot the advlt like I did with the Marina, which also never seemed to come up as a mission either.

I thought the Glowing Sea was going to be like the Courier's Mile.

I had an attakk on somerville, 5 high level supermutants including two warlords. it was an very fast reload, went back in in an x-01, new reload, phycojet backpedaling and used an assault rifle on the dogs first then the exloding minigun on the mutants, the father died and the kids ran away leaving just one settler.

Place is upgraded now, moved the fast traveling point but up an long junk fence then an mesh fence just to keep setlers away from the junk fence as it holds two missile turrets.
