Dihydrogen Monoxide is Dangerous!

Post » Wed Jul 24, 2013 11:42 am

Beware, this dangerous chemical has high amounts of Hydrogen and is known to cause these effects!! Spread the word!

Dihydrogen monoxide:

is called "hydroxyl acid", the substance is the major component of acid rain.
contributes to the "greenhouse effect".

may cause severe burns.

is fatal if inhaled.

contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.

accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.

may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.

has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.

Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
as an industrial solvent and coolant.
in nuclear power plants.
in the production of Styrofoam.
as a fire retardant.
in many forms of cruel animal research.
in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.

Now that I have pulled you in...I am REALLY late to the party on this one but I thought this needed to be shared. Because it makes me laugh...and lose a bit of my faith in humanity at the same time that it reinforces my faith in it.

Beware, Water has High Levels of Hydrogen!

Anywho, secret topic for this thread is discussing this hoax and the various levels of stupidity that many people seem to buy into based on bad/misleading science.

Enjoy!

I don't blame anyone for not knowing this is a hoax. What's stupid is making a joke based on knowledge and expecting those uninterested in the field to understand the hoax. But you know what, water may be lethal, because you never truly know anything, right? So, there's that.

Gah.

Yep this is the same trick people are tying to pull in trying to get fracking banned. Listing tons of chemicals that hav scary names but can be found in pretty much everything we eat and drink every day.

Shhhh...some don't know yet and furthermore, some don't read the OP...micro experiment in the works...kind of...maybe...
You should hear what the Facebook people say about GMOs. Best not forget about the six legged frog found in a field!!! Because amphibians are not highly mutagenic on their own or anything. Must be those GMOs. Oh wait...nope it might be the pesticides they were using..:oh wait again...because nope, that study was pseudoscientific and has nothing to do with GMOs either as well...

But yeah, the whole thing was basically a satire that points out many people don't know how to do proper research and will just sign off on something based on pretty much no real evidence. Which is especially painful when something like Dihydrogen Monoxide gets a lot of serious momentum and can cause real problems.

The problem is people crapping their pants because someone uses a long scientific name and signing a petition to get something banned. People don't stop to think and look up information they just say "this person has a clipboard and a bristol board sign, they must know what they are talking about!"

When I was still on Facebook, the stupid hoax including the onion cut in half and sitting in a bowl curing the flu thing went around a lot.

Wasn't trying to be original. That much is pretty obvious. I even admitted it was done many years ago.

Video not available in my country . . .

Regardless, always humorous to see how clueless the general population can be, and how easily they can be manipulated.
