I was wondering the same thing. I love DX11 and it's hard to live without it.

Yup, only DX9 atm. They MIGHT release a DX 11 pack, like Crysis 2 recieved. Not going to hold my breath tho.

It shows up as DX9 but in the game folder it has Directx10 files in it..... And they stated that the game was supposed to do directx11...

Here is a relevant quote from a randomly-googled article:

Longtime Elder Scrolls fans hoping Skryim would take full advantage of the PC's strengths: unfortunately we have to disappoint you. Game director Todd Howard says besides higher quality textures and bigger resolutions, it "looks the same" as on consoles, and it's "mostly a DirectX 9 game in terms of how the shaders work."

He does note DirectX 11 support is a possibility down the line, however: "When it comes to DirectX 11 there are things they get us for free, like performance gains. You’re going to get performance gains out of it versus an older version. But the specifics DX11 does, like tessellation and all that kinda stuff, we aren’t taking advantage of that right now. That doesn’t mean we won’t in the future. We aren’t right now because we want to author it so it looks great.”

On the bright side, the new engine means Skyrim looks quite lovely as is, just nothing mind-blowing, which it could be. No doubt the modding community will improve the situation before long, though.

Since I'm using my high-end custom built PC I would love to use Dx11 for better performance, Since it was supposed to be included in the PC version...

I don't think there is any DX11 support that is fully functional in the game yet. No way to confirm that for sure though, just going by the various articles I saw on the subject.

I'm sure there is but it's deactivated in this version of the game.

I'd be happy with DX10 and higher res textures.

These are atrocious. Not to mention in the second pic the bottom left part of the screen is my guy's shoulder that you can see right through. How could they let this get past quality control? If you're using a 2 hander and look down you see through your arm/shoulder.

Yeah...Real quality work, Bethesda. Please update the god-awful textures.

Same with bows :(

Haven't really noticed low-res textures yet though.

You changed your FOV, didn't you? Even resetting it back to default won't stop the camera clipping through the first person player model.
Start a new game without doing the FOV change, and the problem goes away.

Nope, haven't touched the FOV. The only thing I've messed with in the .ini are the tree and land shadows turning them to 1.

Are you sure? Because I don't get that problem on a new game until I type some variation of "fov xx" (The "x" being a number, of course) into the ingame console.

Yeah and if they do upgrade their textures all to high-res, everybody including you would whine about the low-framerate. The poorly optimized engine, and the always lovely "console-port" stuff. It's just never good enough, always people find some silly reason to whine about. JUST ENJOY THE *** GAME.

I'm enjoying it but somethings are hard to see due to the grainy, blurry and multi-colored over-compressed textures...

Some people demand the quality they were promised when they gave their money rather than roll over and take it up the *** when served something inferior. And then, of course, there's people like you.

Pretty much this. Bethesda said there would be DX11 support. But they didn't specifically say, "at launch," so we probably should have seen this coming. False advertising FTW.

If you don't want to hear people talk about the issues they have with the game then what on earth are you doing in the hardware and software issues subforum?

Steam page does not say anything about DX10 or 11. It would be nice but not false advertising or even fair to beat them about the ears for something that isn't advertised as being in the game. I haven't checked other sites, so I will assume same specs were listed.

There are enough other problems that we don't need to make one up.

I think words are getting twisted. One article says it is coming in the future and another says it will not be coming based on the same quote from Todd Howard -

"I guess the real question here is do we take advantage of DirectX 11's big new features and the answer is 'not specifically,'" he told IGN in an interview. "Our graphics work centers around doing things that will look the same regardless of platform, and sometimes that implementation will be different on the 360, PS3, and PC."

I see posts here about false advertising. Read the specs where you bought the game. Does it say on the box or the digital download page DX11?

As far as 'coming in the future' - That could just as easily mean using this engine in the future on a new product and adding DX11 features. It does not mean skyrim is getting a dx11 patch.

This is turning into the phone game you play as a child. Whisper something in the ear of the person sitting next to you and it goes around the room. By the time it gets back to the original speaker it does not resemble what was said.

I just hate seeing people start with a good idea - would be nice to have a dx11 patch - and it morphs into where the **** is my dx11 that was promised. Read the specs on your store page or retail box and THAT is what was promised.
