Disapointed with segregation :

Was anyone else just a touch put off at the fact that plenty of the races were just thrown away in Skyrim and it was all just 'Nord! Nord! Nord!'

In Oblivion, in any city you could see plenty of each race, it was a great mixing pot of cultures. I know Cyrodiil is the capital of the Empire and in the centre, but still.

In Skyrim, I see plenty of Imperials pissed off that Nords give them a hard time.

Argonians are pretty much exlcusive to Riften. And there's like five of them.

There is only a hand full of Bretons.

The Khajiit cannot even enter the damn cities. They're stuck on the roads and outside the gates.

The Altmer are hated universally, and are not present pretty much except for in Windhelm and Winterhold.

The Dark Elves are actually racially abused and are in one corner of Windhelm. One or two live in other cities. And these (my favourite race of Elves) are picked on the most.

The Orcs simply know better and life in forts in the middle of nowhere.

I miss the days of Oblivion when everyone just got along and I could have a conversation between myself (Nord/Breton) and my Khajiit and Dunmer friend.

Nah, Skyrim is pretty much supposed to be like that. Although I do agree that there should have just been more NPCs of different races in general.

The imperial city is the center of the empire, so its supposed to be a melting pot. Skyrim is the home of the nords. What do you expect? Morrowind was pretty much dunmer dunmer dunmer.

Not at all. I appreciated that fact that races in Skyrim were not one big happy Disney-fied family as they mostly were in Oblivion.

People who assume that Argonians and Khajiit hate each other based off a singular NPC from Oblivion are a blight.

Now, if you're speaking about the Countess and her policies, yes.

The game focuses on the homeland of the Nords. The Nords themselves are quite racist - not to the point that the Altmer are of course, but still. In Hammerfell, you will find a vast majority Redguard population. In Elsweyr - Khajiit. In Black Marsh - Argonian. Etc, etc, etc. As racist as the different cultures in Tamriel, it is not at all surprising that other races would avoid Skyrim.

Windhelm and Riften have quite large Argonian populations. Soltitude, Riften and Windhelm are about the closest you can get to the melting pot population make up you saw in Cyrodill (Skyrim should be majority Nord, it makes sense).

Orcs are probably the most populous of the Mer in Skyrim, on account of their various strongholds (whether you count them or not, is entirely up to the individual).

I think things are fine as they are now. Though there are several Altmer, not associated with the Aldmeri Dominion, occupying rather important or influential posts in Skyrim, which I was surprised to see.

If you are sad to see dunmer being the receivers of racism, play Morrowind. Your (also my) favorite race is everywhere and they hate everyone else (and non-native Dunmer) equally!

If you are talking about my statement then yes, obviously I meant the countess. If you didn't mean me, then carry on.

That doesn't change the fact that I can't see Nords any more without going on a killing spree.
It's my own way to rebalance the ethnical composition of the provinve in every other race's favor.

So committing genocide against the native race? You are sounding like the United States in the early 1800s

I little more influence from other cultures would be nice. The Grey Quater in Windhelm is perhaps my favourite part of
any of the larger cities, mainly because it can be nice to get away from all the Nords and their distrust - same thing
goes with the College of Winterhold. But it is supposed to be that way - but let's just say I'm really looking forward to
the next TES-game, which, in my opinion, is likely to be set on the Summerset Isles.

It is likely, but I would much rather see it set in Elsweyr or Black Marsh instead of the land of the Altmer. I don't know what it is about them, but I could never stand them. Even before the Thalmor invasion.

Cyrodiil is supposed to be more of a "melting-pot", while Skyrim and Morrowind are obviously not. I perhaps would have liked some more Khajiit because they are awesome, but their numbers were understandably low.

Oh actually I am kidding.
I hate even fictional genozide. I coulnd't bring myself to keep my save games in which I kill any NPC (regardless of race), because I like my game world full of people.
So I always use my mastery of CHIM to load a former save.

The whole thing was a way to say: yeah, I would love more other races!

How do you think the Thalmor purge their dissenters?

On topic: I do wish there was more ethnic diversity in Skyrim.

Ah yes, that makes more sense.

Now, I do enjoy killing a few NPCs here and there - Heimskr, the Thalmor, a few Altmer here and there...
It is understandable why other races don't inhabit Skyrim though. The Khajiit hate the cold, the Argonians are from the swamps, the Bretons-well, they are there in the Reach...just...different. The Dunmer are there, but they are not trusted. Orcs don't seem to even try to assimilate themselves into society - the exception being the Gourmet of course.

To me that's just saying there was too much Oblivion in Skyrim. But apparently people are saying they want more. The twee, multicultural panacea thing is hugely boring.

So... right, Alinor is not exactly going to be a melting pot, is it?

Oblivion had a boring setting, but at least the races were balanced.
Morrowind had a very unique setting. I loved it.
Skyrim has a boring setting and too many Nords...

That's how I see it.
