A Discussion on Factions

As we're all quite aware, I'm undoubtedly sure, given the rather furtive wailing upon this point, TES:O is divided into three factions. Many people have displayed a harrowing fear that these factions will limit the amount of freedom in TES, and warp the series into something that it isn’t; I also share that fear, and have been working myself into a fluster over it. After all, if the factions take a WoW-esque standing, then the roleplay will be severely hindered.

Thankfully, I have noticed a small piece of information that puts my fears at rest somewhat. Of course, it isn’t complete in the slightest, and is ambiguous at best, but it does serve to assuage me somewhat. This small tid-bit of information is, and I quite from http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2012/05/04/the-elder-scrolls-online-details-online/ “PvP will occur in Cyrodiil, with each side battling it out over forts, mines, and farms, with the inclusion of siege weaponry. The goal will be to overtake the city and get your side's”

It seems to imply that PvP, at least world PvP, will take place in Cyrodiil. Perhaps, and I dearly hope so, this means that PvP will not be automatic when entering the homeland of a race of the opposite faction. It’s still, of course, still early days, and such an extrapolation is almost certainly filled with fallacies, but it does seem, from the wording, that PvP will only occur in Cyrodiil on an “automatic” scale.
