I can start the game normally, but when I get to the "Press any key" screen, it crashes and says,
"Dishonored has stopped working, Windows is checking for a solution to the problem.." I am also on a laptop.

When I initally installed it, I could play it perfectly from the get go. However, I stopped playing and shut down my laptop for a few hours and when I got back on It wouldn't let me get past the press any key before it crashes.

for me it crashes later on, in the sewers. seems to do it in 2 minutes of playing
i have ati 6850.
I guess i can delay my playthrough till you guys fix everything

hmm, it might have something to do with the scripts. it only crashed in that zone , when the rats first attack those 2 guys ... till the time you get past the other rats through the water.

No issues after that area

Since I picked up the game tuesday it worked perfect, game ran perfect then I get home this morning around 7:30 and boot up the computer, start the game and crash right at the press any key screen, thinking hmm ok I try again crash all freaking day crash... why the hell did the game work perfectly fine the past few days but then bam it's no longer working....

curious, no new crash.. maybe it was that random SSD cache

I'm having the exact same problem.


I get the message "Dishonored has stopped working" and the usual "Windows is trying to find the problem" to no avail. It happens on the way to Dunwall Tower in one of the latter missions, right when the boatman stops talking. I've been able to play the game with no problems until this point.

I tried running the game in Windowed mode and that doesn't help either, and there are no error messages that pop up to tell me what happened.

Intel Core i7 2.66 GHz, Windows 7 Ultimate, NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450, 12 gigs of RAM.
