Display Cases causing crashes, am I forgetting a step?

Hello!

So I like to collect gems in Skyrim, I mean heaps of them, I felt keeping them chests wasn't good enough and wanted to move them into a display case, unfortunately Proudspire Manor didn't have any so I attempted to created my own display case room.

Nothing fancy but it would do the job, however they do work that great, if gems are dropped in and the door shut, the next time you enter the area it will be on top instead of inside, also anything dropped in seems to get a "fixed" position and will move back to it when you re-enter the area.
Then if there are too many in there, it simply crashes the game to desktop without warning.

In any other display case I can pile items in and they have none of the above problems, which probably means I've missed something in the editor.

The room itself is duplicated from the bedroom on the top floor and is next to it.

I did have pictures to show the problems but apparently I cannot post links...

Anyone able to help?

Too many of any havoc item in a cell will crash your game.

As for the gems moving, drop the gems on the ground and exit the cell. Save and exit the game (might not need to do this step)
Then load up the game and re-enter the cell, then 'E' grab the gems (dont put them in your inventory) and place them in the cases. They should stay put now.

Its a game bug that object rattle around the first time the cell reloads after you drop them. This way, they rattle on the ground, then you drag them where you want them and they should stay put.

Its an bug in the game I found while making movable furniture. If you drop an misc object and then move it the getpositionX, Y and Z will report the position where you drop the object, not where you moved it. Exiting and reenter the cell makes it use actual position who updates on move.

What is a havoc item?

I've seen videos of people spawning thousands items in a single room without it crashing, usually some random item they collect, like cheese wheels.

I don't have anywhere near that number yet my game crashes.

Thanks for the replies.

Havoc items respond to havoc. (they move). Gemstones are notorious for causing CTD when there are too many (probably becuase they are semi-transparent).
It also depends on the power of your computer as to when the limit is reached and the game CTD's. So comparing your computer to others is not a valid test.
