Display cases in Lakeview Manor

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:32 am

I don't know who else is having these issues but when I got done putting the finishing touches on my house I tried to put swords and daggers in display cases but the only option I got was to close the display case. Is anyone else having this issue. Oh and for those who don't want to deal with skeevers and giants don't make a celler for your house. If you happen to come across a giant, he will spawn outside. I have seen this once. No skeevers though.

So I'm guessing it's an issue/bug then?

Well that svcks. I guess I have way too many display cases that can't hold anything to display.

You just put the stuff by hand, same as you always could if you did not want to use the automatic add only this type of thing activation.

I usually just drop stuff, and then grab it (Not add it to inventory) and put it in the case. I'm still a bit miffed as to why they didn't let us put swords in them though.

When you pick them up to put them in there do they stay? I know some weapons tend to fall/glitch out of weapon cases.

They do glitch around now and then, but nothing too bad.

Only specific weapons or items do that, and the same ones will do it in every single display case. It is probably still best to drop the item on the floor, exit the building and then re-enter and place it where you want it, to be sure the item will not re-appear where you dropped it. None of the weapons, gems, books, or furs I put in moved, but one shield jumped out. It was a tight fit so it might not have liked it in there. I tried again anyway, I had already been going in and out doing other things, so if it was the displacement bug it should have settled.

Yeah I was angry it was a glitch or something but I guess it's so you can add anything~ so I did. I have some armor I can't put on mannequins because I have so many armor sets or I mix some precious stones with necklaces and stuff. It's cool now I guess because I can mix and match. Reminded me when I had to set the main hall table with new platters and wine. Takes time and patience.

But you could always do that with the display cases, but because they added the easy activation option, most just never thought of using the cases for anything else. The display cases in Oblivion never had the easy activation option, we used to put all sorts of things in them. Admittedly Oblivion it was easier to move thing by hand, and the cases were not so fussy, house decorating in Skyrim does require a lot of patience and persistence.

It's so other stuff can be put in there, and reduce possible bugs. If it were just for weapons, then a skull would be more likely to flip out. If you catch the drift.

Yeah if it's in your home they should.

I just finished decorating my home. I filled display cases with everything from weapons to cool looking alchemy reagents. I left and came back and it looked like a poltergiest had moved in.
I have always had this problem with owned homes but i thought maybe it would be different in Hearthfire, guess not.

Oh well, usually after everything glitches and flys across the room or ends up in magical void areas hidden within the walls.. I can put everything back where it was and it doesn't happen again. Only seems to happen once with each item.
I got alot of work to do with all I have in this house though =[

If you want to start home decorating in a big way, dump all your desired items on the floor (preferably where someone is not going to walk through them), leave the house and come back, they are yours to arrange with no poltergeists. If you re-add them to your inventory you have to do the same thing before you can place the item. Just keep in mind that some very rare items were never meant to sit out in the open world and will be determined to sink through everything but the floor of your house, there are not very many like that though, they are mainly rare drinks and potions.

Most weapons you do not have to do that for, but it is always best to be sure than have to chase your stuff all over the floor.

my issue with the display cases is stuff not staying in them! I like the drag and drop style because I can put books and stuff there but they keep escaping

The most relaible way I found to get this to work is to go and find a guard and then go to jail or pay the bounty. Sometimes just leaving and coming back doesnt work.

I'm actually glad they did this so I can add things besides weapons in the cases. Its not hard to put them in, and everything stays anyway.

Thanks aussie, I found that by leaving and coming back some things still moved or fell but then i began dropping them on the floor, saving the game and logging out, logging back on and moving them without putting them back in my inventory, nothing has moved yet =]
