Disposition of the Clerk [SPOILERS]

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 8:41 pm

Having just utterly failed to have resisted watching some gameplay,
Spoiler
I noticed that the clerk calling out the names of condemned recognises the players chosen race, much akin to Valen Dreth's role in Oblivion. After this, he appeals to the female officer to pardon you, albeit without much gusto. Does anyone else think that whether or not he tries to get you off is influenced by your race? For example, would an Elven player simply be taunted for his bad luck and not be offered a glimmer of hope by the clerk?
I thought it might be an interesting point to discuss! Happy waiting!

There was a preview a journalist played as a Khajiit and some Nord ass was giving him [censored] about being Khajiit and he got into a fist fight with him, with people gathering around and betting on who'd win.

I cannot wait.

According to journalists this thing happens all over in the game. People will greet you as "brother Bosmer" or "kinsman" or whatever. It was in Oblivion too, though to a lesser extent.

Yes a while ago Todd Howard confirmed that Morrowind's racism would be back again in Skyrim:

And there is, the racism you saw in Morrowind, Cyrodiil gets less of it, because it's kind of melting pot of the races, and where it is, Skyrim, you are getting back to, this is the province of the Nords, and even if the other races make appearances, they don't like elves, they are the original home of man, and they think, men vs our elves (the mer), men are, are the ones who should rule Tamriel, not, not elves, so there is this, conflict between that, so soon that does come into the play, some of that leads in the quests, and there is the theme for the quests, but a lot of it, depending on the race you pick, it's, it's flavor more than it is locking you off from one thing or another.

Well obviously the Nord wouldn't have said anything about at least dying in Skyrim if you were not a Nord.

The other officer (a redguard), yeah she was a [censored]. At least we got to take her out when looking for the key. I was hoping you could loot all her stuff and leave her hanging nakid upside down on the wall. I know I'll try.
