DLC Price Drop?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 7:52 am

I love Elder Scrolls and have been playing them all since I was a baby. I bought the quakecon pack only to play through every game you have made. But the downloadable content has made both me and my wife sad (though admittedly you have many still in your grasp). Hell, I even own 3 different copies of Morrowind, Fallout 3, and Oblivion because of my switch to computer gaming over console.

I bought Skyrim for about $60. My question is how can you justify an additional few hours of questing, mounted combat, and more barely playable vampire content for half the cost of the original game? The map has not doubled (or even 1/4 increased) in size. There was no real re-skinning and you had all the programming done for the most part. There isn't a flurry of new weaponry. And I can only presume that your next goal is to make Elder Scrolls online free to play so that per month people are spending more than the typical subscription based format.

What happened to gaming for gaming's sake. I won't buy the DLC, and I do know others who wont either because of the "Blizzard Effect;" increasingly making games harder to obtain financially.

Will there be a price reduction or are you going to lose touch with your client base just as many other producers have?

Wait till we have it first, also every time someone says "it's never coming to ps3" it's not going make it come out sooner so stop being a fearmongering doomsayer.

There was a tweet recently apparently saying do not expect it for the PS3 at this point until further notice I heard so, if that's true then it has really become no hope left for them lol

Which is nothing new, we already knew not to expect Dawnguard (or probably any other DLC) for the PS3 till they solved the problem. They solve it they will rush off and tell the fans first thing, we hear nothing, nothing is solved.

Yeah I never really expected it, at least not any time soon.

But to me at least, that message sounds more like, expect it not the come. Expect that there will be no dawnguard.

You may hear a happy surprise one day, but don't count on it as of now lol

They way some PS3 users including myself had to turn off the PS3 everytime Skyrim froze, which happened very often, I'm sure they don't care about damaging our system. Everytime I turned my PS3 back on and when I was looking the message that would pop up I would just always hope that my PS3 was still okay. It was. But darn what a risk that was. I thought Skyrim was trying to kill my PS3.

personally, gripping and moaning about the dlc not coming out yet or doomsaying "its not coming out evers!" isn't going to make it come out quicker, also seeing as Sony is working with them to finish it up I can see getting a dlc, most of your arguments are just emotional anger angst against the game because xbox360 and pc got it 4-5 mths ago, personally so what if it hasn't come out yet I'll wait for a properly finished product than one thats riddled with problems also never had problems with Skyrim on release for my ps3, i guess you slim models are still riddled with problems eh?

Yeah because that was exactly what my comment was about. I was refering to how I had to hard reset. Now where was Dawnguard in that? Nothing I hate more when people put words in your mouth. DON'T YOU JUST HATE IT WHEN SOMEONE DOES THAT TO YOU!? :swear:

Sometimes I feel as if I'm breaking my Xbox everytime I forcefully turn it off whenever skyrim freezes on me.

It's implied when your posting in a thread about Dawnguard.

When I played on PS3 I didn't have a slim model and it still constantly froze...

None the less the thread is essentially about dawnguard not being worth the price, which I agree. I played it for PC, and as I said before it's simply more of what is already available.

Some new weapons, new story, but everything follows the same structure and all.
And they did some cheap things to extend the gameplay like constant long distance traveling.
And the quests were essentially mirrors that had the same endings and so on and so forth.

Its like that dragon age game where you can support the mages or attack the mages, but in the end the mages are still who you're gonna kill.
What's the point?

So what you are telling me you didn't even read my comment? You just replied to me not knowing what you were replying to? You just see a comment here and assume it is directly against Dawnguard without even reading it to see what it is actually about? What on earth? I was replying to your comment about Bethesda not wanting to release a product that will damage your system. Well Skyrim could have damaged the PS3 as well as the XBOX 360, as I am taking from VideoGameMage comment. Freezing leading to hard reset. Come on. You can't be serious.

Mine had an issue and was traded in, but the actual owner requested the original model as he didn't like how the slim looked or how it added buttons rather than the touch power switch, which I think it added buttons, not completely sure.

It runs most games fine but skyrim did give me alot of issues. It's why I switched to PC. Just download an unofficial patch and problems gone.

But I don't even play the game all that often anymore. Dawnguard was something that made me want to play again. But dawnguard wasn't something that I'd like to do again... it gave me some entertainment for a time but once it was done I was no longer interested.

Same thing used to happen to me every 15-30min on PS3. It would just freeze. The controller wouldn't work, it wouldn't let me bring up the PS Menu and exit out or anything like other games have when they froze, it literally would freeze the entire system and make it unusable until forced to reboot.

They did have a sale recently on Live for the Oblivion DLC. Granted, it was still a heck of a lot cheaper to buy the GOTY edition and just buy the small DLC off Live that was not available with the disc.

Well I have to disagree because this DLC gave me about 7 - 8 hours of playtime so far.
I didn't even complete it yet, I only did the Soul cairn part, I still have to do to that other place for the scroll.

I reckon I will get about 15 - 30 hours out of what it added each playthrough, so that's about 100 hours per my intended Skyrim Career.
That is a good ratio for me and a lot better than what other DLC's and games offer me.

I think you have a problem because you can't get a sense of the enjoyment in Dawnguard.

Heh, 20 bucks eh?...Well add about 60 bucks-per-month on top of that (Rising cost of internet, thanks a ****in' lot valve, you rotten c*****s*****!) for a grand total of 80 bucks!

I lost my internet due to obscene costs vs my income, which is not so bad as I simply use my laptop at my local library. However, when I installed steam on my non-gaming laptop in hopes to update Skyrim (After a quick install of skyrim on my non-gaming laptop) and copy the files to my gaming rig, I received an error that I needed to be connected to the internet in order to update my steam install, even though I already was!

Apparently, you need a private internet connection in order to even patch your 60+ dollar investment!...So count yourselves lucky that you are in a position to even purchase DLCs...Which will end up discounted on steam anyways..

Real crappy move on Bethesda's part...Looks like no DLC from this cash-cow!

If Valve employed a simple automated call-in authentication service for use in their games, they would single-handedly nullify all their bad press, and bolster their image with their customers like many other European gaming companies already do!

Yeah I didn't think the DLC prices ever really dropped for some reason

Several things.
Soul Cairn is actually a good chunk through dawnguard so you may not be getting as many as 30 hours

I enjoyed dawnguard, that does not mean I think it's worth the 20 bucks.

The game was not finished.
Many people including myself have experienced bugs, have had gamebreaking bugs, increased lag, and just plain random crap going on. Some people couldn't progress and complete dawnguard and had to start new save files, some peoples would not progress unless they deleted their corrupted save files (It would influence a new game), some had to completely uninstall both skyrim and dawnguard several times and delete all saves to get it to work properly.

The game didn't necessarily implement much outside of what is pretty much an extra guild questline, it mainly gave more of what you already had. New weapons that are higher damage and a different skin, they added the crossbow so there's that, and a vampire lord form.
The rest of the items are just reskins with different stats for the most part and the story wasn't necessarily that well thought out, mainly the beginning of the story.

Fix all the bugs that people are experiencing and then maybe 20 dollars is decent, but it's too many problems that ruin peoples experience at this point to be worth it.

I finished it, it was fine, but I had a lot of inconveniences. Several of my hours with dawnguard were spent looking for mods and console commands to get around problems, and then one of my save games becoming corrupt and needing deletion.

Yeah Dawnguard was okay but it was overpriced, also mounted combat is free and it was implemented with a patch.
