Is it me or does anyone else want to change there character

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 12:43 pm

I have being playing Skyrim for ages now and have started about 5 or 6 new games because I liked seeing how class one race would be to another. I am currently playing as a Nord and I am on level 56 but dont want to start a new game because I have done so many of the missions it would be fustrating doing them again. I think what Bethesda should do is add a Potion or New Mission in there next D.L.C that will allow you to change your Characters Looks, Race, or Gender.

Anyone else with me??

I just restart. I don't have the problem with redoing everything because I never let any one character do everything. Each character joined factions that were specific to their role-play. There is some crossover, but I keep each character fairly unique. For example a few I've done:

Anya Surilie. Female Breton. Pure Mage. College of Winterhold. Bards College.

Daral Berethi. Male Dunmer. Rogue, DW Daggers. Dark Brotherhood. Daedric Quests.

Dular. Male Orc. Warrior 2H Sword. Main Quest. Blades. Orc strongholds.

Onyx. Male Khajiit. Rogue 1H Sword and Bow. Thieves Guild.

Raven. Female Breton. Forsworn DW Sword and Axe. Markarth. Imperial Legion.

Svenja. Female Nord. Warrior 1H Sword and Shield. Main Quest. Companions. Stormcloaks.

Eric. Male Nord. Warrior 1H Axe and Shield. Light Armor. Companions. Explorer - been everywhere.

It's you. My Woodelf is so covered in armor, can't see anything of the race anymore.

The idea of a potion and/or object that allows you to change your race/gender would be a complete removal of role-play, however just the general appearance wouldn't be a problem for me...

I wish we could at least change the hair and facial hair. That would add to imersion and RP value by helping to ilustrate the passing of time.

I want a barber, yes, but changing race/gender and that stuff would be a bit...extreme.

It would certainly break the roleplaying experience since the game would probably treat you like you like nothing had ever changed....

I get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing the character level up and get stronger. After level 40 or 50 it slows down a lot. I also like the feeling of suspense when I fight. I like worrying about whether I'm going to survive once in a while. That also goes away.

That is actually a class way to do things. But also my other problem is that I like my Character being the best Mage, Thieve, Assassin, Companion, etc I think it would be cool having the best Character that could do all these things without having to restart the game and trying to redo the Quest again dont get me wrong the Quests are fun and exciting but there are some that you would be happy not to do again and thats why I would love if they added a Potion or Mission to help you change Your Character like that fella in Fallout 3 near the sunken boat who could do Facial Reconstruction

It is not for me, at all. Every character I make is completely different from the other. With their own look, personality and story. They do things, go places, talk to people and react to all of those things in ways that are fitting to THAT character.

I play with the "ironman" DID playstyle. It feels dirty for me to continue with a character after they have fallen. It would feel even worse if I changed the character half way through.

This would obviously be a player choice, so in that sense I would support it, If not for me then for the ones that do. After all, I have the choice of not.

First I had a nord, got him to 80.5. Then switched over to an imperial who now is 81.5.
Deleted the nord and started another one :D

Restarting and playing different classes/races is part of the fun of this game. I am on my third restart as a mage (previous was warrior and thief). I have never advanced the main quest line, always poking around exploring.

Although, my current mage is getting stale being a pure caster. I am thinking another restart making an archaeologist/dwemer expert/priestess of Julianos for something less stereotypical.

Ive restarted several times because i wasnt happy with my characters well into the game but it has helped me narrow down the look and type i like.
Now i have 2 different characters i really like that i switch between...a battle axe barbarian nord and a altmer wizard. I plan on starting a female archer assassin type soon to add to the mix but havent settled on a race yet

I don't think this is needed. (changing hair and warpaint is a good idea though)

My characters are unique, they have different roles and a different personality.
Some may end up in the same guild, but they all have a different personality and playstyle, which is what makes it fun for me.

My best character experience was Ylva, a female Nord
She was a heavy armored dual blade fighter who is raised by a werewolf after the Thalmor killed her family who were Talos worshippers. She joined the Stormcloaks in fear that this will happen to more people. She had a pale skin with black hair and black eyeshadow and she was very mysterious but heroic as personality.

I sadly could not play her anymore after a certain bug appeared, but if I could I am sure I would still play her as my main character.

Also, if you play the pc version (unlike me, for now) you can install the ''live another life'' mod.
It gives you the chance to start as a worker in an inn if you want to. And many more features such as starting as a vampire in a lair. I am sure you can find more information about this on youtube.

Look for my post about in this forum. I'd suggest calling Bethesda to. I did. They do look at these forums and if we keep that topic near the top they will have to pay attention. If you do want to take a look at it just put, Barbers in Skyrim, in the search box. Take care.

Yeah I would agree about actually trying to get Bethesda to put in a shop that would deal with your characters hair and facial hair maybe even allowing you to change the colour. Baber shop idea -----> JohnScorpion

I don't need this, because I roleplay. My characters don't do the same quests, they rarely join the same guilds and I try to make every one of them unique. In fact, I like starting a new game - it gives me an opportunity to see my characters react differently to the same situations: big choices like Stormcloaks vs. Empire, but also seemingly insignificant like "could you please bring this note to the Jarl?"
My goody-two-shoes wizard ran this errand right away, my antisocial thug just shrugged her arms and left.

I'd love to have an option to change my appearance, though. I have a character that started out with long hair and then decided to cut it - I can do it via console, but it would be nice if the game allowed a "legit" way to do it.
I also added warpaint once.

I actually prefer to continue one character at a time. I don't like playing too many in Skyrim and same goes for Morrowind. I am more likely to play as multiple characters in Oblivion, though. I would make a second character in Daggerfall, but the beginning dungeon is so hard and there's only six save slots... Yeah, can't just throw away my level 10 Khajiit in Daggerfall. It takes a week to even get 3 levels in that game.

I've recently got myself out of the habit. I have a level 23 Dunmer, which is twice as far as I would usually get, and it's still fun to play on. :)

My advice is to make up a backstory for the character, that way it feels like it's worth more.

I created new characters all the time when I played Oblivion, but when I began seriously investing myself in the lore of the series I also began to get much more attached to each of my characters. So for Skyrim, I've actually only created one so far.
