Does anyone have this feeling?

I've been playing Skyrim around 7 hours, and I'm loving it. Great gameplay, great graphics, just a few things missing.

However does anyone have this feeling like something isn't quite there, or something's missing compared to Oblivion? I don't know, maybe it's just some nostalgia. The setting might be part of the problem too.

The mountains are already getting kind of bland for me, and there's not much character or feeling from the environment. On top of that the score is, sadly, not melodic and flowing at all like Oblivion. This doesn't set any mood at all and I just don't feel it like I did with Oblivion.

I'm not trying to complain here, I just wondering what you guys think. I can't figure out what it is....

too many expectations... Skyrim is over-anolyzed.

How old are you? Me - I was like 16 when I started to play Oblivion, and I just stumbled over that game one random day. Have not played Skyrim yet but I know my feeling is going to be similar to yours.

I felt the same about my first while in Oblivion, but it grew on me.

Hmm, I had a distinct 'let down' feeling for the first few hours.

I think this is mostly around the initial adjustment to a new game and a new, slightly different TES game.

After that though, I'm loving it.

I'm not sure what you mean about the music - the songs I've heard so far are amazingly good, especially that soft tinkling one.

The world is really characteristic and atmospheric too - all the mammoth bones on the tundra looks a little prehistoric and the fog and clouds, awesome. The little things too like stumbling on, well, I can't say, but there's heaps of cool little touches and well written quests.
