Does anyone know how to make a good-looking male Altmer?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:53 pm

I want to make another Altmer and I'm really indecisive when it comes to character creation. I've never been good at creating good looking character as I change my mind all the time. I just wondered if anyone knew how to make a cool looking male Altmer. I think Ondolemar looks alright but I don't know what hair he has and it might be really ugly under that hood haha. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/imageshare/images/479819-1328089858.jpg

I'd probably prefer a clean shaven Altmer as I usually never use beards, except for my Nord I made for the first time who had a beard (the one after the 5 O'Clock shadow) which was alright.

So like I said, does anyone know how to make a good-looking male Altmer who can help me haha? Thanks.

Trick is to pick the right eyes, and bring their chin up and positioning the mouth and nose relative to the new location of the chin. Everythingelse is about the same as any other race.

Thanks. I'll try to do what you said haha. I'm on the character creation right now because I'm sick of spending hours thinking about how I will design my character. Now I just have to spend hours on the character creation menu haha. I might get lucky though and find a good look.

I don't mind the actual look of the Altmer but I just want mine to look cool/badass and good looking haha

Minimize the difference between their elven features and their human features. No matter what you do though, they're going to have pronounced chins, and high brow profiles. Best bet is to work around those and take attention away from it. With enough work on the sliders, I'm sure you'll eventually come to find something you like. I used to hate Male Altmer, but the one I'm playing now is a handsome stud.

PS: Female Altmers are one of the best looking female races, after Nord, imho.

I don't mind that they don't look very human. I just want him to look good as a High Elf (if that's possible).

By the way, what weight should I use for my Altmer? I was going to go a bit bigger and bulky but I don't know if it will look right. Especially when I'll probably be a pure spell caster without any melee.

The trick to making a good looking male Altmer is all in how you position the corpse.

My altmer is a pure mage type, I put their weight about 1 bar below the middle on the slider. I feel it looks pretty spot on. I didn't want him to be tall as hell and skinny at the same time, then he would just look like a stick!

Thanks. That's just what I want.

What would you guys recommend as the best preset face to use? I can't decide haha, I am trying preset 2. Even just picking a nose is hard, I was thinking the 3rd nose on the right side coming to the left. Looks something like this:
L < < < < < < < < < < < < < R
The eyes are even harder to decide on. I can't decide the colour or shape. As for the hair I'm stuck between the 2 even long ones. One is near or touching the shoulders (without the braid) and the other is second from the right side which is even longer. I think I'll go with the shorter one but I haven't decided.

EDIT: Is there also a way to remove that stubble kind of look from my character's face? It looks as if he is starting to grow a bit of facial hair but I cannot remove it.

I wish I had a screnshot of the altmer mage I made. He looked darn good. Try adding a close cropped beard. That's what finished the look for mine. It hides the wicked witch of the west altmer chin pretty well.

I'm making an Altmer right now haha.

I chose the second preset with that grey hair. I first made his complexion the lightest (golden). His weight is 1 below (towards the left) of the middle. His nose is the third from the right. I left the eyes at default because I'm having trouble with the shape. For eye colour I'm leaning towards the red ones but I haven't decided if they suit him, because there is also the green or yellow ones. For hair I'm using the medium one (between the ponytail and braid) but I also couldn't decide if I liked the even longer hair. For hair colour I used the light golden blonde/brown colour (3rd from left). I haven't chosen to use facial hair.

I haven't fiddled with the sizes yet as I'm so indecisive. My character also looks as if he has facial hair growing and isn't completely clean.

EDIT: I also looked changed my six to the female to see what it looked like and I thought she was really good looking haha.

EDIT2: I am just about done. I chose the longer hair with the light golden blonde/brown and reddish eyes. I used the default shape eyes of the second preset. I'm now only stuck on two things. I cannot decide if I want the default mouth (first one on right side) [which makes him look angry/annoyed or possibly just looks as if he's concentrating or thinking] or if I want to have a smile or smirk.

The other problem is to do with his chin. I think it looks alright default but I can also make it squarer and wider to make it match the jaw line that faces the ears which gives it a more humanoid look. I cannot decide if I like him to look more Altmer with the unique long and narrow chin or more human with a square and wide chin.

Female Altmer can be SO pretty! But male Altmer are a little harder to get looking good. As far I can tell, they always have kind of a five o-clock shadow when creating them in the CC, but once you get your character out into the world it's not noticeable any more. My favorite eyes are the second to the last ones (the last being to the right), but they are a different shape than Ondolemar's, so you may prefer another shape. I also like to raise their eyebrows a bit higher than they tend to start out on the character models. It gives them less of a shelf brow. I also like to push the brow all the way back instead of forward which also helps so the brow doesn't stick out really far. With the jaw, chin, and cheek area, I personally prefer these to look less human than most posters on here. Personally, I think the more broad and human-like you make the jaw and chin area the worse it looks on an Altmer, but a lot of people disagree so try out different jaw and chin lengths and broadnesses. I also like their cheekbones to be fairly high, but not too broad. Also I like the to make the jaw line high instead of low on the elves to make them have a really elven looking face.

These are just some suggestions of the things that I like to do. Basically I think the most important parts to play with are the jaw and chin area and the brow area since those are the places that give the elves their distinct look and you may want to make them more human or elven looking depending on what you prefer.

This is an impossible task that cannot be accomplished. All Altmers look terrible, and most have terrible views.

The female NPC Altmer tend to be hit and miss, which is strange because as mentioned above I can make stunningly beautiful female Altmer using only the vanilla CC. The male Altmer NPCs on the other hand tend to be the best-looking males in the game in my oh so humble opinion. ;) I agree with most Altmer being asses though. ^^

I think I used the first preset, Psy, but I'm not 100% sure. With enough work you can honestly make something beautiful looking with any of the presets.

Anyway, the first step is to pick another race :hehe: I don't think i've seen a single altmer man i would call "handsome" in the whole game, though there are some hot-ish women :hubbahubba: Well, atleast they don't look like bananas anymore like in Oblivion :hehe:

Good for you! I'm almost done. I decided to leave the chin and jaw as it is, since I want him to be an Altmer not a human. I'm just being a little picky on the eyebrows now, I left them as the default ones (first left) but I can't decide whether to raise them higher or not. I kind of like the eyebrows to be slightly raised (slider under the 'B' in Brow) but I cannot decide if I want them any higher haha.

Make sure they NEVER wear a shirt or any armor there. The #1 rule.

You know, this is just a thread about someone asking how to make a better looking character and yet there are quite a few off-topic posts clearly meant to flame and troll. It makes me wonder what a whole thread dedicated to Altmer love and fans would look like. *strokes chin pondering and imagining the forum hell that would ensue

This is mine: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v194/rivergoat/Skyrim/My%20Skyrim%20Characters/?action=view¤t=DokkenSamsi.jpg

He's actually an Altmer/Dunmer mix. I pulled the chin way up and in and then widened it all the way, chose a mild eyeshape, and widened the jaw. Then I stuck a beard over everything 'coz it's the Frozen north after all!

Ji Soo, I love the Altmer in the first picture! Is he modded in anyway? I especially like the way his lower face looks (the jaw and chin area I was talking about earlier). I have such a hard time with the vanilla CC making a really nice lower face-shape like that.

I can never make a decent looking Altmer! The main things I dont like about them, is their chin, and brow ?? I've tried and tried but Usually when I change anything the face looks out of proportion haha ??
