It improves load times. There is a rumor that installing does cause texture loading to screw up.

Installing on the HDD mainly just increases loading times, indirectly it does effect graphics but not that noticeable

This right here.

So far there has been no definitive confirmation one way or the other.

No, but it's supposed to make the gameplay smoother.

Actually there is actual definitive confirmation with pics that such does happen but again day 1 patch may fix or it may not we won't know until then.

When its fixed it will not drop in quality it will either be the same or have a %.0001 increase because your installing texture = faster

But as I said previously installing into the HDD is meant to speed up load times don't count on anything more

About as much as trimming the edge of a hobo's beard counts as a haircut.

I'd say it really depends on the game, how it's written and what it provides. I guess noone is able to test this yet, so we'll just have to wait. As a recent example, look at BF3. Installing on the HDD increases graphics/quality a lot, while other games only gain shorter load times.

You're right, but Battlefield isn't a good example. Installing the game with the install feature of the 360 itself doesn't change the graphics. The game looks always the same.
Installing the optional texture pack from the DVD improves graphics, but then it doesn't matter if the rest of the game is installed or not, both ways look the same ^^
As far as I know, Battlefield is the only game that has such a workaround where textures are installed separately.

Anyway, unless there is a optional texture installation the normal install feature doesn't increase the graphical quality. It just improves loading times and can help to reduce texture streaming.

With a massive game like Skyrim I think it would be a waste of HDD space. Btw I don't mean to start an argument but youeyemind is right. The xbox is a horrible machine, I've gone through 3-4 oblivion discs because of that dang thing, not to mention 3 xboxs. Microsoft could easily fix this with a cover over the eye that reads the disc. But they don't. They didn't on the new one either. They just put a sticker on the box saying not to move the machine while it's turned on. You know why? Because it makes money.

Sad not one topic on this forum can ever stay On-topic. Someone always has to say something stupid.

Anyway, no it shouldn't improve the graphics but loading will definitely be faster and the game could look a little better (but it won't be that the game has improved graphics; it will be the fact that it will load textures and other things a lot faster that will.)

That's mostly because the textures didn't fit on one disc, it wasn't something that magically allowed the console to play with better graphics. By installing the game on the HDD textures it looks good, what you'd expect from the game on console. But if you look at the BF3 textures when you don't have it installed the textures simply look bad.

Many posts have gone away and many warnings will be issued.

Stay on topic please. There is no reason this thread can't be open to discuss this. If you don't have an Xbox 360 or have nothing constructive to add on topic then it's probably best to stay out of the thread all together.
