does having your weight at maximum cause clipping with cloth

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:12 am

I am thinking about choosing a MALE nord preset (with a few minor tweaks). This preset is at max weight setting by default.

Has anyone heard of certain armors or clothings having clipping issues from your build being too heavy?

For anyone playing a male character at max weight, has the character looked pretty cool throughout the game, or way too buff?

I was wondering if this character would look ridiculous in dark brotherhood gear, etc. Being that they are stealth apparel and slim fitting.

Uh no o.o lol what a weird question haha

And i don't think you'll look ridiculous in DB gear, its the thieves gear that might look a little fat :D

I don't think it is a weird question. Certain hairstyles will clip right through helmets and hoods.

Hair clips (damn you physics!), but not armour.
The game recognices your build and scales.

The size of the clothes isn't static. Wearing clothes created initially for slim, stealthy characters on a burly character will not cause clipping. Out of habit, I always set the weight to maximum, and my Argonian is kitted out in the thieves guild outfit

I wish there was a way to know which hairstyles clip, and which do not. It is really annoying.

I'm sure I read somewhere that ebony armour can clip slightly if your character has a larger build. Just though I'd mention it, something to look out for.

Ebony armor svcks cos of clipping. Playing a male nord, max weight and there is a big open space around the neck. Looks really awful.
Im using orc armor now and I think its kind of cool looking. A slight samurai look. Other armor I like is steel plate but using a regular steel helmet.
I dont like closed helmets. On a side note; does anyone else think that many of the shields look loke humongus trashcan lids? Im only usin steel
shield cos that one looks like a proper, functional shield, nothing more nothing less.

No, clothing won't clip on your character, and DB armor looks fine as a muscular Nord; I play as one

Being max weight on my character I never remember seeing any clipping issues.

Some clothing that normally wouldn't clip will clip because of the weight slider being maxed. Furthermore, some armors will show clipping (Glass and Ebony armors both have neck clipping issues, Ebony more so than Glass). This hasn't deterred me from using a character who's weight slider is maxed, but I do stick to clothing or armor that do not contain clipping (Or at least noticeable clipping). Daedric Armor or Blacksmith's Apron for example.
