Does killing wolfhounds discredit the Clean Hands achievemen

Playing just the other day I had a question after trying, unsucessfully mind you, to knock out a wolfhound without a sleep dart and found that there is only the kill option should you try to sneak up and knock it out like a person. The question is if I sneak kill the hound and hide the body does the hounds death discredit the Clean Hands achievement? Since it is clearly an animal like a rat, hagfish, or river krust one would think not; however, since it also acts as a detector against the Ghost achievement it casts some doubts on its classification as an animal or personlike NPC. Anyone have any answers reguarding this?

Hagfish, rats and riverkust is the ONLY thing you can kill. Slaughtering poor little Fido and Rex will unfortunately break clean hands.
