Does Lydia's Dialogue Change if You Marry Her?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:13 pm

I got married in the game to Camilla, and she always calls me "my love" when I see her. I like her well enough, but now wish that I had married Lydia, as she is constantly with me as my follower. What I was wondering is, does Lydia's dialogue change when she talks to you, and is the list of things you can ask her different if she is your wife?

Just curious.

The "married" dialogue is present along with Lydia's normal dialogue. From what I can tell, her normal dialogue does not change.

she refers to you as her lover, and as thane, dependig on the dialogue. the normal dialogue should have changed a bit though.

"Sheathe your weapon!" isn't a dialogue? Strange

What, really? Lydia says the same things? That's kind of stupid, don't you think? Why would Lydia ever say, "Back from some adventure, I guess" when she was with you the entire time? Well, duh! Yeah, of course I'm back from an adventure - you were there, too!! Not very good dialogue planning, is it.

Punch drunk adventurer. She took one too many giant clubs upside the head. The fact she even recognizes you is a miracle.

She says it, if I dismiss her, or tell her to wait or stay here for a while (using "followers can relax - mod)...not sure which, but those are her responses, kinda

Bugs me that she'll chop and change between her new "Wifey" dialogue and her old "Housecarl" dialogue. It makes the whole conversing with NPCs even more unrealistic sadly. I mean, it's bad enough that they'll repeat themselves over and over and over, but Lydia now can't make up her mind between, "Hello, my love", and "Honoured to see you again, Thane", when I walk into our house.

Yeah, she does seem confused sometimes. But ask her to carry something and she still gets as snotty as ever. I use Jordis as my follower right now because I didn't get her until I was level 49, meaning she's a powerful follower. So when we get back from somewhere and Lydia says, "...back from some adventure I bet" she sounds kind of sad that she wasn't there. OTOH, if you're married to Ysolda, she sounds like she believes your adventures consist of non-bloodbath events; like you were out saving kids from a tornado.

Interesting responses. I was hoping for some more realistic dialogue blending. However, I'm sure I'll marry Lydia in the next playthrough. The voice actress who does Lydia (among others) has the sixiest voice of all the female NPCs......

Pretty much everything about marriage is kind of stupid. Not much care was used for that feature.

As far as I can tell, all followers do that once you marry them. It was standard routine with Marcurio and Vilkas IIRC. We would be out adventuring for days, come in the front door, I would tell him that it was time to part ways, and he would say "I'll be at home if you need me"... and then walk two feet across the room, look up, and welcome me back from whatever big adventure he assumed I'd been on. At first it was a WTF thing but then I started to find it really, really funny. As someone else said... just imagine that your follower/spouse took one too many knocks to the head out on the road and it all makes sense. :P

her energetic "I'm sworn to carry your burdons" comment after a night of love making would be funny as hell.
