As long as the enemies keep scaling up I don't see any reason to limit weapon damage, but getting to 100% damage resistance is just silly. What I'd like to see is a nerf of the weapon damage enchantments. For armor, a system where each point of armor rating adds less to your damage resistance as your armor rating gets higher, so that you asymptotically approach the limit rather than suddenly hitting a cap, with heavy armor having a higher limit than light (maybe 60% for light, 80% for heavy.)
