does summoning out of combat grant xp?

at first my conjuration skill seemed to shoot up to 35 and i assumed it would go up very quick like in oblivion . I've noticed after doing 3 more quests that it hasnt increased at all , might have gained some XP on it but not sure. I summoned a lot of flame atronachs , so im puzzled why its not going up quicker.

I've searched and found diffrent answers , does summoning a flame atronach outside of combat give xp? if so is it only a tiny bit? you get more for summoning in combat? It's obvious you going to be summoning out of combat 95% of the time. I would hate to have to summon in combat just to gain skill.

Want to raise skills without doing anything cheesy , if im going to summon a bound item over and over just to gain skill i might as well cheat and raise it in the console and save the boredom , i don't want to do this , wanna raise it through playing normally and having fun . But if its raised at all in the last few hours its only been a little bit.

I doubt it, you only get experiences for summoning that all. If you got hit by an arrow or else, then you get light/heavy armor XPs, so on. Whatever you do is what skills is put in use, it doesnt give you experiences for killing for each mobs.

I believe I read somewhere that the xp comes from your summon being in combat and doesn't have anything to do with where it's summoned. I know if you summon a bound weapon constantly the skill wont increase unless your near enemies.

yes but the summon is fighting and killing , it's just summoned out of combat , i mean you would have to be an idiot not to summon out of combat , so if its not raising by summoning out of combat it would mean its impossible to raise playing sensible , or not raising it by cheese.

i hope thats true and would make sense , i just dont get why my skill has hardly budged yet i've used it a fair bit. Dont want to resort to bound weapons
