Does surround sound work for anyone?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 11:43 am

I have 5.1 surround speakers, and surround sound works just fine in almost all other games. This game seems to have stereo sound only, and there are no options to mess with to try and fix it. Does anyone have surround sound?

ya it's working fine for me no audio issues so far at all

I do notice that even if the npc is far off they still sound close up like the distances are not fully optimized but I hear out of my side speakers just fine

I'm using headphones w/ simulated surround sound and I'm having a similar issue.
The left ear has barely any sound coming out of it but the right ear sounds normal. (no I'm not losing my hearing in my left ear)
For example, when you get saved at the start of the game and get in the buggy w/ Hagar, I can hear him better in my right ear.
As if I were the one driving and he was sitting to my right.

So on top of all the video and stability issues, the sound is F'd up too...
Great.
GJ id, pissing me off more every minute.

My surround sound doesn't work in Brink either, which is another Bethesda game. I wonder if they use the same sound engine. If that's any indication, this will never be fixed.

What kind of sound equipment are you using? Are you sure there's sound coming from the rear speakers? For me, positional sound works, but it's only stereo.

Mine is working on forced 3D stereo. If I leave all my Logitech options off it still works but the voices are lowered and the sounds aren't as bone crushing.

But that's fine I guess since I can't even play the game I paid for.

Yep, I literally can't progress in the game anymore thanks to http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1237891-unplayable-stutteringcrash-when-entering-area-past-the-gate-in-dans-message-mission-on-the-way-to-wellspring/. Never pre-ordering a Bethesda game again. What did they test it on? One single configuration?
