Does The Vampire Lord's Vampiric Drain Scale?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 1:32 am

The basic attack VL's have. The one in their right hand. It was extremely powerful at early levels, but it's getting.....sort of useless. Most of my regular spells seem to kill things faster, and so do my claws. Should I just ignore this spell for the rest of my playthrough?

If you have Serana with you, she weakens VL form.

Yeah abandon Serana whenever possible if you're planning on using VL. They need to patch this.

I know right? Its stupid, we get given the best follower by far only for her to nerf our powers -.-. Bloody typical. Beth will patch it in the next patch though that should hopefully fix alot of dawnguards problems.

It is pretty rediculous. Bugs, cant upgrade our forts, face-changer only works on non-vampires, you can't side with Harkon, you can't actually block out the sun. Why did I get this again?

Just to let you know...you can block out the sun and it lasts from whenever you block it out to sunset. The only downside is that you get vamps coming out to revel in the darkness (makes for epic battles though)

*EDIT*

You need a certain object to be able to block out the sun

Progressing the storyline upgrades the forts. They never said you could CHOOSE upgrades for you fort. They may have been misleading but they didnt lie.

That's exactly my point. It was misleading. It just makes this feel sort of cheap....and Todd did say YOU can "trick them out". But still, taking one look at some old thread shows that I'm not the only one that was fooled by him. I just dont know why they wouldn't let us do that....

And I know about the bow. It only works when the sun is out clearly and doesn't work on cloudy days. We should have had the option to side with harkon and make it permanent, but now we're getting off topic. This conversation fits in THIS thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1388538-blocking-out-the-sun/
Let's continue talking there.

Not everyone does the MQ on every character. Sometimes I dont want dragons flying around. So I'm stuck with a bow from a questline i DID do that barely works.

He serana bug mentioned above may be the problem.

I'm wondering if the drain life spell in VL form does scale, I've only had one character go through the DLC so far, a level 60 (100+ hours) who sided with the vampires.

I haven't seen a level one use the drain life VL spell, it can't do the same damage, it's incredibly strong at level 50+. You'd be one shotting everything on master if it did.

So it MUST scale then? Good good good......if someone could find a way to confirm this I'd be really appreciative.

Oh and not to shamelessly advertise my own threads, I made another one about two VERY different dawnguard reviews I found on Kotaku and IGN. It may be worth looking through and discussing / friendly debating: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1390581-two-dawnguard-reviews/#entry21105023
