Does this make me crazy?

Post » Sat Jul 14, 2012 8:30 am

So apparently not everyone thinks in words, but it's something I've always done and always been really bad at tuning it out. It's not like I hear voices, it's just that I talk to myself using my mind's voice. Does anyone else do this?

No, it doesn't. Don't worry what those other people say or think. I think it helps in situations. "Hmm, what should I do in this circumstance?"

I do that too. Nothing crazy about it, people just have different ways of thinking.

I see and hear the words when I think. But, I also think with images.

Sometimes. I don't walk around having discussions with myself, but I can think verbally if I'm pondering or doing something that requires a little thought.

I do this too. I don't dream with words however. My dreams always feel like they are being "suggested" to me, if that makes sense.

I do this all the time. When there's something big I'm thinking about, I'll pace around and have a conversation with myself in my mind (or out loud if no one else is around).

You know that's not the actual definition right? That's just some silly philosophical thing. Otherwise anyone who's played a slot machine for more than a couple pulls is insane.

Depends if you rationalise with yourself but refer to yourself throughout in the third person?

No, you're not alone at all. I almost have two voices inside my head that I use to form arguments in my head to make decisions. It helps me to make good decisions, so I roll with it.

I do it all the time. I constantly put plans in my head, editing them, etc.. It what makes me so good at Chess, Arcanists, and other games involving planning...

I also use it to yell at myself when I'm mad, instead of yelling at someone else for real.
