Don′t blame ID !

Yes, Rage has issues, but it can be played via FIX. If i can run it perfectly on Intel C2D E4500 2.2GHz, 2 Gigs of RAM and a ATI HD3850, then anybody can run it. Also I′m pretty sure that ID is not releasing the second patch quickly ′cause they want the game run as smoothly as possible. So be patient.

Don′t blame ID software !!

Thank John Carmack that we DO have PC games at all !!!!

You really trollin' or something? Let me explain how you should play a game: You go into a shop or buy it online, insert dvd(s), install, then play.
You are bragging about working on that machine with USER fixes, and a hell damn lot of them. Many players still have a lot of problems with this game even now, while ID is doing almost nothing. They released a patch that solved a maximum of 25% of the problems, and only a few players can say they can play this game as it should, and you want us to thank them? Yes, thank you ID Software and Bethesda Softworks for the most bugged and not tested game in the last DECADE!
We had to find fixes ourselves and choose between playing Rage with bad/missing textures or with freezes every X minutes. I've played pre-released, alpha games that had less problems than this.
Seriously, any way you try to look at it, this game is a disgrace and a mockery. ID didn't give a crap about the fans, they released an unfinished game, didn't even bother releasing a real patch, and just let the players handle the problem themselves however they could.
Try thinking a little bit, and face the damned facts

You're so right! I bought all their games since my first PC (Quake1). And they always were playable from the beginning. And now, with bethesda as publisher they release such a bugged piece of software (don't call it game). It's so sad!

Rage works flawlessly on my desktop, but crashes instantly on my laptop. Not terribly bad as I can still play on my desktop PC but I was kinda looking forward to seeing how id Tech 5 would perform on my laptop. Hope they fix that :P

When I read the first comment, I was thinking exactly the same thing you're saying. You made my day because english is not my native language, and it would be a little bit hard for me to explain my point of view as clear as you did in english. You have perfectly resume the situation.
Thanks !

Don′t blame ID !

Blame ID for what?

For me, usually it goes like this:
Buy the game
Install the game
Start the game
Setup my control, sound and video options
Have fun.

Rage works like a charm on my PC. Prior the patch all i had to do was turn on VSync in the NVidia Panel.
I own lot of FPS games people keep complaining about, but i never had problems with these on my PC.
When Bioshock was released, the 2K Forums where full of complaints. Then i read a lot of crying about Dead Island and i think WTF are these people talking about.
Maybe i do something right what others do wrong when it comes to Windows-PC installation and maintenance.

Jake, none of the games you mentioned had so many problems with so many people. The fact that yours is working means you are one of the less than 25% that actually has no problems, well... congratulations. It has nothing to do with how people maintain their computer, if you would have read the rest of the forums, some guys have actually done a clean install of windows, and try the game only with the needed drivers, without any additional software installed that might use computer resources. The whole problem is with this game not being optimized at all, not being tested as it should have, and the developers not giving a c**p about us.
The funny thing is that almost all the people that say they have no problems with the game usually have low-end computers, from what I've noticed around here. Might be possible that this software was tested on old computers (game testing computers are usually like that).
One of my first games was Doom, in '94 or so, when I was still a kid. I used to have a lot of respect for ID Software, and used to buy all their games as fast as I could afford them. Rage deserves his name, since that is what it has created among most of those who had the misfortune of actually buying this... "game". My childhood memories of Doom 1 and 2 want to give ID another chance, but all this disappointed me so badly. A once great company now has become money-hungry and does not give a f**k about their fans. R.I.P.

There's always one, isn't there? Even though it's taken longer than I thought it would, along it came all the same.

By all means be pleased by the fact that the game works for you. I've never really had problems with games myself until Rage came along. This game clearly has issues. Patronising people that are having problems with the game just makes you out to be a condescending jerk.

25% that actually has no problems

Where did you get that number from?

It has nothing to do with how people maintain their computer

Not always but often. Then there′s the undeniable ATI problem.

The funny thing is that almost all the people that say they have no problems with the game usually have low-end computers

My low-end system runs Metro 2033 like this:
1920 x 1080; DirectX: DirectX 11; Quality: Very High; Antialiasing: MSAA 4X; Texture filtering: AF 4X; Advanced PhysX: Enabled; Tesselation: Enabled; DOF: Disabled
Average Framerate: 31.10

Metro is the game that gives me the lowest framerate.

Patronising people that are having problems with the game just makes you out to be a condescending jerk.

Sorry for that!

I will blame developers as long as they keep neglecting the PC version over the console versions. I dont expect them to give the PC version more attention. But at least the same amount of attention to make it a polished experience. And they even came out stating that they cared more for the console version than the PC version because it has more financial support. And then they go and blame it on drivers, releasing a game for PC with almost no graphics options and then blaming it all on drivers is unacceptable. I would expect this from Ubisoft or some company like that, but not from ID. A company i have always respected for delivering polished games, and then they come out with a console port. Sorry but that is just very disappointing.

Explain me this. I have a better PC then you. And my framerate on the game is from 0-1 f/s. I payed 60 dollars for not to play this game. I have to thank ID and Carmack for this. Thank you ID and Carmack for stealing my money.

I'm just hoping they release a patch that will make the damn game playable without having to screw around with the coding. For me and all the other people that don't really know how to screw with things, we can't play the damn thing cause we don't have a first clue how to screw with it till it works.

Atleast for me I have had no playability issues. But EXTREME graphical lameness. Weak sauce graphics that a 5yr old console can produce. And with a custom cfg you can bump it up about half a notch. I play full graphics options @ 2560x1440 and it still only uses 50-60% of my GPU. -lame weaksauce ugliness

I would love for this game to use 50-60% of my GPU. At the moment Rage uses 0%. My GPU is so underused when I play this game that the fan on my graphics card actually spins backwards in an attempt to warm the GPU up so that it can pretend it's doing something.

I swear that if could fit a 128K EISA Trident video card into my PC, Rage would still work and I would have VRAM headroom to spare.
