So i just beat RAGE after 21 hours of gameplay and I loved the game all the way through. The gunplay is spot on, driving is surprisingly well done and the quests and story were interesting enough for me to want to play it til the end. I had heard that the ending was horrible and as i entered Capital Prime I was thinking "Oh man here we go..." but as i played through it i noticed that this is a lot like Doom 3 why would they make the level like Doom 3 this is horrible, but as i kept going i noticed the pacing was actually spot on for the type of corridor shooting it was and as i reached the area to kill off the remaining mutants and undig all the arks..i was ready for an ending..It was already set in my mind that the game needed to end after everyone was freed and now i'm looking more forward to DLC than ever. I cant wait to see how they really wanna tie up the story maybe there will be an army formed by all the ark survivors and they fight off the authority..either way i was definately not disappointed with the ending. I thought it closed out just at the right time and the right way..and the right way ment leaving the story open for more to add to it. Is there anyone else out there that really wasnt that let down by the ending?
4 me it was like bang Arks rise... ummm ok sooooo. Just needed more resolve to me. Like ok why is this bad and it seems 98% of the ark contained dead dudes to me. soooo

I think the authority killed off the people in the already emerged arks they just forgot you..
Its not that I thought the ending of the story was bad. i was just disappointed in the lack of challenge. They give you this pulse cannon like something really tough is comming your way and it never does. I got through almost the whole thing with wing sticks. I was saving the cannon for whatever badass I was about to encounter and it turned out that the final challenge everything was building up to was pressing a button? Lame.
The ending to me was a slight disappointment. I always applauded ID for getting us into an epic boss battle so you have that sense of accomplishment. All I can say is they left it wide open for a Rage 2 or for some decent DLC continuation, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is something like that. Until then I'm replaying on Nightmare and playing the multiplayer.
Utterly loved the game through from beginning to.... sort of the end.
May as well just quit half way through a level. Really disappointing ending. No baddie character, no boss, really lame. What was the point of the BFG?
Real shame as this had been so far GOTY for me. Now if anyone asks what I think of Rage there will be a massive "but" at the end of whatever goodness I have to say about it.
I was let down a little, I love the game but it was short and some of the things Ive heard concern me. Obviously they left the story open for many possibilities. But the most troubling Ive heard is the idea they have to expand the story to several more games instead of add ons. Now this is probably just speculation, somebody's unimportant and bland opinion. But with the way video game companys have been reaming our wallets lately... I can't say Id be surprised at all.
True. But they stated that dlc is important to RAGE in the aspect of, they are waiting on it to see what the fan base says. They also said to expect dlc soon after the launch. I'm not denying that they are going to put dlc in it, nor denying that it will be campaign dlc. I'm just concerned that this story line will be moved to a whole different game before it's explained fully. This is what I'm hoping wont happen.
yeah its not the actual ending story wise thats so bad, its the gameplay aspect, its a very short, very easy end level, they give the best baddest gun in the whole game and for what?
In no way is game time short there's 70 odd missions are you comparing the length of it to BL or Fallout coz if you are that's why ur disappointed it's a fps an a long one for that genre. I do agree tho I hope the ending comes out on dlc but with an ending thus to grant a rage 2 despite the ney Sayers I thoroughly enjoyed this fresh game.
You can't act like you weren't surprised that the campaign, including the sewer missions, and achieving 100% completion took less than 40 hours total. The game was awesome. I'm still playing it. The biggest thing that bothered me was that there wasn't much to the whole "wasteland exploration" sense. Unless you were looking for jump's, field goal posts', a couple cards, or plants, you were on a mission in a designated area.
Why is everyone else in the ARK dead except me? They appear to have been that way for quite some time as they've rotted nearly down to the bone. Surely now that the ARKs have all surfaced, the authority doesn't have any real sway over the wasteland any more. The ARK troops have had extensive training in what they're supposed to do after they've woken up and made contact with one another. They're well trained and well supplied / armed. I'm guessing they would help uplift the local population of survivors with their advanced knowledge of all sciences carried over from the "old world". There's not really much of a story left to tell here unless suddenly all the thousands of hand picked saviors of the world decide they're joining the authority.
