Don't understand the design of vampire

Why is he being more stronger when he is hungry? IMO he should become stronger when he is fed, and if he don't fed he become weaker and show sign of vampirism

Coz when people are hungry, they go to RAGE mode and kill everybody in their path for food?

Besides, feeding makes you human-like, which kinda renders the vampire stuff moot, so there's that

Because the Elder Scrolls has a different spin on it in their lore. Think of vampirism as a disease, and blood causes the disease to remain dormant. The longer you go without blood, the more acute the disease' symptoms, and the stronger you get from the disease.

More Human blood in you less undead and more human, less blood more undead less human...well thats how I see it.

Well, if you eat a lot of beef you won't be more like a cow right? To me it is like human blood is food of vampire and the less feeding they got the weaker they are

Ok, Vampires are generally seen as undead right and feeding is generally seen as restorative? Now how many games have it so any healing effect on the undead to do damage instead of healing? Quite a few, Im sure. So it makes sense feeding makes them weaker, also stands as a game mechanic to help deal with vampirism.

I didn't like vampirism :/ at first I thought it was cool until I had to feed every other time I fast travelled (otherwise risk being killed in cities). That got tedious really fast, just taking a few trips between cities required me to go to Winterhold and feed off my students and faculty a couple times..

The timer is too short and the vampire level goes up WAY too quickly. I figured it would be 72 hours per stage but it looks like it's somewhere around 12-24...

I actually really enjoy playing as a vampire. My third character is a Breton vampire mage and the archmage of Winterhold. I always bring a companion with me when I am doing quests and when my hunger reaches stage 3 I find a Inn and order my companion to sleep and feed on them. This way, I always stay well fed, and the vampire powers really do come in handy.

the real reason is because bethesda were lazy when making them, this is a rip off of The Order (cyrodillic vampires) from oblivion

strange thing is, only a single blood-line made the pact with the deadric prince (i forgot which prince) to become weaker in exchange for the ability to remian hidden in the presence of humans, and that is not the blood-line in the game (different diseases different blood-lines). cant wait to see how this is falsely justified

Gak!!

So we're back to the backwards-ass vampires from Cyrodil??? What happened to the feral monsters that live under icy lakes and grab the ankles of passing travellers to pull them under without ever breaking the surface??

To much effort. I kind of agree with that, it'd have been a nightmare to design. What I find annoying is that they didnt even go back to good old morrowind style. It'd not have killed them to add in a few clans and quests.

Maby in the dlc they will put them back in. Failing that a modder will fix it :P

Well yes I agree that the whole ice-sneak attack thing is definitely too complicated to bother making... And I too was really looking forward to having clans and vampire quests... Or at the very least a vampire that can become more powerful by drinking blood. Not one that gets jacked through starvation. :banghead: Sigh... :banghead:

This is screwy even in terms of lore since the book from Obv and Skyrim specifically mentions that only Cyrodil vamps do the whole worthless disguise bit. :banghead:

Cyrodilic vamps are about as intuitive and logical as the 'Healing Shiv' :banghead:

Exactly.

Bad design decisions with a hint of laziness. It kinda feels like they just tacked it on towards the end of the development cycle.

Regardless though, I'm thankful they were included. Its better than nothing and its also a good framework for the modding community to improve upon.

Vampire overhaul ftw.

There was a mod that was in the works for Oblivion that completely changed every aspect of vampirism, giving a lot more depth and reward to being a vampire. Basically it made a viable role play opportunity and added more realism. I can't remember what it is called unfortunately, but a mod like that for vampires in Skyrim would make them much much more appealing.

I agree. It somehow feel like being vampire is a punishment, this make the whole role play vampire is not fun to play.

The main thing is you have to constantly feeding to keep yourself weak, rather than you have to keep feeding to make yourself strong

I played Oblivion's Vampire and loved it. I believe Skyrim is similar. It's also a balancing point. You get more powerful, but you get shunned by society and you are forced to live at night.

i dismiss it as the vampiric body becoming more adapted to large scale feeding as the hunger for blood rises during what i refer to as a blood drought.

This shouldn't be happening with Skyrim's vampires. This style of vampirism was unique to Cyrodiil's. Skyrim's are supposed to drag unsuspecting passersby to their deaths from below the frozen surfaces of bodies of water. They're supposed to be the Volkihar. Are there truly no Volkihar in Skyrim?
