Never played, but I'm assuming I'll hear a lot of "No." in this thread.

You could probably find way more worthwhile things to spend those 20 bucks on.

Why not. If you like the series and want to continue playing it then go ahead. Its more of an arcade game than an RPG though, just be forwarned.

This. My friend let me borrow it, telling me it was an RPG. To me, Oblivion is an RPG. Dragonage 2 was disappointingly linear. If you're desperate to play it, then get it, but if you're unsure about it, my advice would be to buy something else.

For $20 sure, it's not up to par with most of what Bioware does but it's still a solid game.

Depends. Do you like boring gameplay? If so, you might want to check out a gameplay video on it on Youtube. Also, have you played Dragon Age Origins? If not, you should get that first/instead.

I'd just wait a while for Kingdoms of Amalur to go down, or save up a bit more. From all the footage I've seen, it looks like a far better experience than DA2, though it's a slacker in the story department.

At $20 it is a good deal and a fun game. I actually liked the story telling with Varrik (sp?)

At $60 it was a major rip-off

You can try the demo.

I for one did not appreciate the changes to combat and the art style, so I didn't get the game after playing it. Which turned out to be a good call, because the game was very badly received by many fans of the original.

Huh. If I do end up picking up DA2, that actually sounds like something encouraging, since I never did like the original game's combat system. The story and characterisation were the only things that kept me going on after the gameplay quickly grew tiring. <_<

Understandable. The combat of Origins is strikingly reminiscent of such titles as Baldur's Gate, a game with a combat system I quite hated for its emphasis on micromanagement in even the most insignificant of encounters. It's designed better in Origins, of course, but I still prefer my combat to be directly controlled with combos and such. If that's what you've got a hankering for, then DA2 might be an improvement to you. I still recommend checking out Amalur, though.
