Dragon armor makes me look like an idiot.

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:51 pm

Haha, EXACTLY!

Seriously though, I like to feel like I look cool. I mean thats the whole point of designing your character right? You want to look a certain way.

When I wear Dragon armor I feel and look like a huge, armor plated, walking talking killing machine bird poo.

Go first person then you wont see it. The only person judging your appearance is you. I'm pretty sure the Giants aren't all like "Hey Dave, thats a funny looking dragon running towards us on two legs, I hope he doesn't eat my mammoths, I just had them shaved.....oh wait, its ok, its only Shelob the Dovahkiin. What's he doing dressed like that?! He'll never get the ladies looking like that, he needs a tie or something at least!"

In my opinion, ALL armor should be customisable at least down to colour and markings.
all armor is customizable in all ways, if you have a PC

I'm not a fan of dragon armor, either; though the light armor definitely looks better than the heavy.

So far, most of the mods I've seen only change the colors of it, and there's much more wrong with how it looks than the colors. I'll wait until there are some mods that completely change the look to something more pleasing to the eye (subjective, of course).

There is a solution.

Wear dragon armor and play in first person.

Problem solved.

lol I gotta think of a name for you type of guys...

It's like saying "Pretend your not wearing it!" Look, If it were so easy to just pretend you weren't wearing gear then why does Bethesda even bother working on armor models in the first place?

Why not just make it so you can't see yourself so you can just pretend that you look awesome?! Hell why not just make crappy graphics and we can all just pretend that they are good! >.>

The other day, I got the Dragon armor perk by making 500000000 iron knives. I excitedly went and fetched my collection of Dragon bones and whatnot and set about smithing up a bunch of dragon armors.

I put it on and my excitement was quickly replaced by "Oh..."

That's right, I looked like a tick turd.

Now I have reverted to Ebony because its the only armor that doesn't make me look like a walking clothes rack.

In my opinion, ALL armor should be customisable at least down to colour and markings.

Does anyone agree?

Dragon plate looks like [censored] but Dragon scale looks sweeeeeeet.

yeah that armor is great too, I agree with some of the other opinions about choosing the rugged fur and leather armors

they fit the game better and don't loom anywhere near as corny as the elven and dwarven armors which made my character look like a giant gold doo doo brick princess

I like the robes alot too, like I said rugged is the way to go in this game

Gold doo doo brick princess... I lol so hard

Dragon scale armor looks indeed very sweet! Now, my 2nd toon wears heavy armor, so the only armor she'll wear after Ebony is Daedric!

I always said in Oblivion... Dremora's are the "bad boys" of Tamriel, so wearing Daedric armor makes my toon a "BAD GIrl" hahahaha Instead of bikes, we ride dragons hahahahaha

ROCK ON Dovahkiins! \m/

The day they were finalizing dragon bone armor designs; the art director was on sick leave.

Maybe the fact dragon armor being worse than daedric was a sign of shame.

Thanks to smithing and armor bonus perks i never wear anything non-unique but Steel and Leather. I do like the high-level weapons (like Glass Claymore  still looses to Steel Claymore) But the armors get uglier the higher level they go.

Best 'looking' armors, I think are Dwarven, Elven, Glass, Ebony, and Steel Plate. I don't think any of them look particularly bad except the dragonplate helm. actyally now that I mention it most of the helms are awful. Daedric was the only one i actually liked, dragonscale was ok because you can still see your face, steel plate was tolerable, but I just didn't like most of the helmets.

Try Ebony Mail instead of?

I think people forget that many players play in 3rd person exclusively, hell I've never played any Bethesda title in 1st person so to me the armor should look good.

I can't agree with you. That's because only character I have the perk for dragon armor uses light armors and Dragon Scale Armor looks good on him (without helm because it seems ridiculous). Only thing about dragon armors I think is really stupid is that you need dragon scales to upgrade both scale and bone armor. That makes scales to be more valuable than bones which actually are worth for greater money.

I took the Dragon Armor Perk and made some Dragon Armor. I reloaded the save and put the Perk into something else. The stats were not much of a boost over my Glass Armor. As someone already posted, I choose the armor that looks the coolest. Not out of any misguided form over function aspect, but because any armor gives me enough protection, so why not pick what looks the best for my character.

Lydia looks good in her Ebony, I look good in my Glass.
I always wear what suits me character based on how I roleplay them and their likes.
Personally I like the dragon armor but its not for all of my people.

On my Nord it looks awesome, I personally like all armors except steel and hide ones. They all seem to mix well with my nord. I do not however use the gauntlets and helm as I tend to mix and match,

Bandit1: "OMG! Whats that coming up the road there?"

Bandit2: "I'm not sure..." **squints** "It looks like...erm..."

Bandit1 and Bandit2 together: "A giant bird dropping!"

Bandit3: "That ain't no bird dropping! That's a Dragon Born warrior with 100 smithing! ATTACK!!!"

Bandit1 and Bandit2 together: "ATTAACCKKKKK!!!"

Ever wonder why a group of maybe 4 bandits who watched you singlehandedly take down an Elder Dragon and a Giant while wearing Dragonscale Armor even think about attacking you?

Dragonscale (light armor) looks great. I can't beleive some people actually think glass armor looks better. Glass armor is awful. People could see you coming for miles ahead on a sunny day and just laugh at you. In fact, stealth mode should be impossible with glass and darwen armor. Seriously.

Some shiny superhero, no thanks.

I do agree that ebony looks good though, but I play light armor.

Dragon scale for light & "the" Ebony Mail for heavy.

All my non-melee characters wear Dragonscale once I can make it, and it always looks good on them. Then again I only play Argonians, so the armor tends to blend well since they have scales of their own to begin with.

Now, Dragonplate I don't like, although I have a 2H-user who will wear it since it looks primitive and she's something of a throwback. I usually stop my Heavy Armor users at Ebony, for the whole 'black knight' vibe, but I will have at least one who wears Daedric as it will fit the role and does look cool in an 'evil' sort of way.

First, the advantage of getting to 300 smithing is not making the armors, it's being able to upgrade the armors. As for the heavy armors I put them on Lydia and my favorite so far is the Daedric. I didn't really care for the look of the Dragon armor and I don't get why it isn't the strongest considering it's on top of the perk tree. Even the light elven armor is better. Some of the stats they give to things make no sense like how a one handed ebony sword is more powerful than a 2 handed ebony sword. Why did they do stuff like that?

I like that the Daedric boots, gauntlets, helmet for female are black without red... looks great with my Ebony Mail. Changed the helmet for Helm of Yngol later on.

I think someone's working on an armor dyeing mod, so PC users at least will have some control over it. In my opinion though the dragon light armor looks ok (apart from the helmet.) The heavy also looks decent on female characters.
I think the Dragonbone looks cool on men, especially Nord men. The only trouble I have is that the Dragonscale is a little too skin-tight for the self-respecting male adventurer. It looks good on females though.

Do you also not like the DAedric?
