Has this happened to anyone before - A dragon attack outside of a walled city, continuing inside of a walled city? 1st time its happened to me. Just wondering

I had a Frost Dragon attack me when I was exiting the Blue Palace in Solitude. I was surprised to say the least.

It's very rare. I believe that has only happened twice in my game. An Ancient Dragon attacked Windhelm and Riften, both times landing in front of the Palace of the Kings and in front of Mistveil Keep.

Some people think that a dragon attack can only happen inside of a walled city if the dragon spawned while you were outside and followed you in. In other words, you are to a degree in charge of whether or not a dragon attack happens or continues within a walled city. This also means that if you rush to leave a city while a dragon is in the walls, it should follow you out.

I have never encountered a dragon within a walled city, so I can't comment first-hand on this theory.

Kicking ass outside of riften, goes inside and gets all the guards a try at the kill.
It happens several times for me.
Not as much since I killed Alduin.
