It'll only be any good if we get the rest of Tamriel. Skyrim's just too small to make flying any good.

i don't know, i hope it doesn't ruin the sense of scale in skyrim. Zooming around the map in ten minutes might take away from the size of the world.

Lame if you absolutely need it to access certain areas, as I have no intentions of riding dragons. But if it's entirely optional like horses are, then I see nothing wrong with it.

I'm voting for lame. I'd much rather have... I don't know... one halfway good plot.

They're mentioned in lore prior to Skyrim. So... Awesome.

Eh.. just don't mount it?

Although at some point of the Dragonborn questline it is unavoidable.

Well, I dont think Bethesda would make it mandatory. But I do think its going to be so cool, you wont want to get off!

We have an article in our site about the announcement if at all interested in our view in the total story:

If it's just like a fast travel node, that's fine, but...
I...Secretly really want to be able to do this in Skyrim proper, just so I can buzz Windhelm and shout "Where is your god now?!"

Entirely depends on how they implement it. Could be a neat feature, or it could just feel like fluff.

I don't know if we actually get a dragon mount or if what was shown was a cut scene like the one in the vanilla game. The first scene where the player is mounting the dragon looks like the player might be in control but we don't see the takeoff. The second scene in the air though has a camera angle that looks decidedly like a cut scene ... a player controlled dragon would be seen from behind, like horse riding.

...They would involve a scene cut from the vanilla game, in the trailer for the DLC?

Awesome if implemented right. But I think it will probably be scripted.

The word 'like' wasn't thrown in gratuitously. It means 'similar to'. In the vanilla game we saw our character mount and fly off on a dragon, but we didn't get a dragon mount. None of the footage in the trailer definitively proves we will be in control of a flying dragon during game play.

As far as I know, the dragon will work like the carriages in vanilla Skyrim and simply be a way for the player to get back and forth between the Skyrim and Solstheim worldspaces.

Awesome because it's a new quick way to get around that actually seems useful enough for me to not wan to use map fast travel as much. Carriages didn't cut the mustard since it also just lead to a loading screen and doesn't have nearly as much choices as clicking any destination you want from the map.

Agreed. I admit - the trailer has me concerned this DLC will feature another must-miss plot like Dawnguard's.

I don't see what makes it lame, but I guess it's hip to say things that look interesting/might have mass appeal, are lame.

I hope they can be flown in Skyrim, and not just Solstheim. Worst of all would be an implementation as a mission-objective and not free-form.

Could be awesome if done right. Personally im at a "meh". I could care less about dragon riding (mostly cus i think its gonna svck nuts the way its implimented) by who knows i could be wrong and get a pleasent surprise.

If they had a choice of adding more morrowind style content or dragon riding, id take the more content hands down over being able to ride dragons. Just doesnt seem like its going to be that fun, or believable.

Also read somewhere that dragon flying takes place in its own "world space", which if true means you cant free form fly a dragon anywhere.
Dont know how credible the rumor is though.

It's going to be awesome, but I hope it's only available after the MQ (the whole DLC). It would be [censored] to fly around the whole skyrim with a level 5 character.
Whole skyrim is available as we can see the dragonborn flying near Throat of the World in the trailer.

I think what he means is:

In the main quest, theres one part you jump on the dragon and fly on him, but the second he hits the air, it goes to a load screen and you dont actually get to fly the dragon.
I think what he was saying is that the dragon flying they showed in the DLC could be nothing more then a loading screen transition from one place to another.

I personally think its a little more then that, because if that were the case i dont think they would show dragon flying the the trailer if it were just another load screen transition.

I want to see how it works. For all we know, it could just be a visual taxi used exclusively Solthseim.

Dragon mounts and a good plot are not really interdependent of one another. It's not like having one means we can't have the other.

As for my opinion on the topic, I'm really undecided. If it's in it's own worldspace like the rumors say, I'll probably be fine with it.
