Dragon not giving soul

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:56 pm

Im not sure had i kill'd it before but last night when i was riding to Riften i heard dragon shouthing so i look'd around and found it flying above the Bonestrewn Crest, after awhile i kill'd it and it gave me loot but no soul so i went up the hill to where the shout was, wall didnt give that but chest had loot... i know they are getting resurrected but come on

Otherwise the game has been awesome! Textures looks sometimes [censored] and there are some other major bugs that makes me cry blood but im sure i can wait ANOTHER week or more for the patch :)

If it helps narrow things down, I too have had an experience in which a slain dragon did not relinquish a soul and instead just sat there as a dead body. It gave loot all the same so no trouble there. Word walls have never failed to give a new word for me however. It may have just been a minor mistake on the original poster (could've been to the wall already and the dragon just re spawned in that location).

My roommate and I both have the game. I've killed 28 dragons and he's on 29 and we both have had just one instance where the dragon did not give a soul. since it seems to be one out of 30 so far, the glitch doesn't seem to be too big of an issue. But there you have it :)

I've had two instances where a slain dragon has not given up its soul to me. One of them was actually a fight with two dragons at once. One gave me a soul but the other did not. I was thinking perhaps I got to it too late, as I'm not sure there is a time limit on how soon you have to get near the dragon after death to absorb its soul.

Interesting side note: When I found these two dragons that I fought at once, they appeared to be fighting each other. Both were already slightly damaged by the time I took my first shot at them.

As for walls not giving words, maybe you got the word while in combat and didn't notice it. That happened to me, when I died alot, I noticed I would get the word during battle if close to it.

Okay, I have killed over 50 Dragons and yes I have com across the no soul dragon bug, but the wall only works once...if it is a place you have already
gotten the words from then you will not get them a second time even if the dragon has been reborn.....

It has happened to me, my explanation, as far as I can tell is this. There are one or two quests that tell you to go kill a dragon, my thinking is if you do these quests, then at a later date you go back to the place the quest pointed you to, the dragon has spawned again, but this time if you kill it you can't absorb it's soul 'cause you already did it.

I'm not sure if this is what is happening or not but I recognised the place I killed one and it was the dragon I didn't absorb the second time.

I to have found this, I think it's because then it stops people from permanently travelling to each word wall to get a constant supply of dragon souls :D

my experience thus far as been that its happened twice and both were specifically when a jarl has given it to me as a bounty. killed the dragon per the bounty and as mentioned, it was lootable but no soul was absorbed.

Im glad to say this hasnt happen to me yet though I had a dragon died by itself right by autumnwatch. I was on the bottom and he flew to the top of the mountain and died mysteriously there was no other corpse up there and it took me at least three minutes or so to get up there to get the dragon soul and after I beat him i venture little bit more and fought another dragon and a draugh deathlord at the same time and was able to get the soul there....though my horse died after that battle though.
