Dragonborn Bugs bugs report.Part 1

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 8:35 pm

Quest giver Neloth:

Quest: Wind and Sand

Location of Quest: High Gate Ruins

Problem: If you have previously completed the original dragon mask quest defeating Vokun with Anska from base Skyrim game - the Iron doors leading to the Word Wall "Storm Call" remain perma shut IF you recieve Neloths book fetch quest at a later time.

Even the exit above near the entrance is shut closed.

Solution: I had to use the wooden bowl glitch and shout my way thru the walls. Due to the angle of the two small iron doors with curved corners as walls using the wooden bowl plate glitch took me roughly 3 hours to successfully teleport thru the iron gated door.

The reward: The Whirlwind Cloak also is not available after completing the quest. Neloth says it is but it does not exist or available to purchase.

Tried multiple saves - no quest reward.

It's a radiant location. Can you go back to a save early enough that he will give you a different radiant location when you ask? I think this workaround has been used for "broken" Companions radiants, for example.

-No textures floor anything, you are just falling, when entering some buildings sometimes. This happened twice. I can only remember one of the locations though: The abondoned house in Raven Rock.
-I have also noticed some bad texture loading in the same area (in between abandoned house an Severyn Manor)
-Beard and eyebrows disappeared when using the dragon aspect shout. It returned 5-10 minutes later. I have seen others post that their beard didn't return though.

Another one I haven't seen mentioned: Decapitation perk is really weird on things from the dlc.

It will act as if you do it, but the head will remain on the body, while if you look around on the ground there will be a floating circle of gore, that would represent the opened neck, this will role as if it is attached to a head and function as if you are opening the corpse from a head.

Possibly the new armor meshes not having the ability to seperate?

Had some of the same problems, along with a couple of new ones. They didn't occur before downloading DB.

1.The game lags and crashes much more often. Interiors sometimes load with no walls or floor.
2.Almost every time my character draws his sword there is a second long wait before he does.
3.Unrelenting force hits enemies, but it takes about a second before they're knocked back.
4.Lag with some projectiles and traps (poison darts in crypts, bloodskal blade beams) Haven't checked how it works in Skyrim yet.
5.Save for death groans, character became completely mute after clearing the first black book. Had to reload a pre-Solstheim save to fix. Didn't happen again.

I think there's more, but those are the ones that immediately come to mind.
I have about 270 hours on this save. I'm going to try some things out back on Skyrim and then on a newer save (with about 100 hours in) and see how it does.

Sven and Talvas Fathryon's speech files seem to be merged. I asked Sven (from Riverwood) to follow me and insteady of saying something like "lead on", he says "I suppose Master Neloth won't mind...", which is supposed to Talvas Fathryon's (from Tel Mithryn) speech line.

Edit: this happens with the followers that share this voice file:
  • Sven (Riverwood)
  • Onmund (College of Winterhold)
  • Agmaer (Fort Dawnguard)
Not affected:
  • Erik the Slayer (Rorikstead) - probably becuase he's a mercenary rather than a basic follower

During Old Friends (a quest received from Neloth in Tel Mithryn) the ash spawn in the graveyard sometimes blows the heart stone out of Ildari Sarothril's sarcophagus with its' fireball spell making it difficult (or maybe impossible) to recover the stone and progress the quest further.

Happened to me too in that abandoned house. Kept falling, jumped around to the direction of the door and timed it right so I could exit. Re-entered and it was fine.

One of my maniquins in Severin Manor reset temporarily. If you are facing the door, it was the one on the right. The armor eventually came back though.

Game is essentially broken for my main character, No matter what saves I reload too, after defeating Miraak, going back to skyrim to unload some new stuff at my house and coming back to solstheim npcs will randomly attack me, and when they don't any quests they give fail to register with the game. Pissed off to the extreme that i have to make a new character.

Try saving your game and reloading the game that you just saved once you complete the black book. This at least eliminated the sizzling sound on my game. I can't say for sure if this helps with the square you are describing though, as I've never experienced (or noticed) this before.

I found a dupe bug i have all the DLC's installed. If both you and your companion are overloaded and you drop multiple items onto the ground ,then you have your companion pick up the items. Then either fast travel away, or enter or exit to a new zone .then travel back the items will be back on the ground and still be in your companions inventory. Now you can either have your companion pick up the items again and repeat the bug or you can pick up the items and they will not reapear.

The Nordic carved armor is blurred out at all times except when you first start your Xbox, it makes feel sad that such a beautiful piece of armor goes underrepresented. Anyway is it related to having too much in my inventory or something?

I have a poltergeist in my Solstheim home - I know the mannequins have done strange things with the armor, like they have it but don't wear it. My mannequins, however, move. Yes, they move. Behind my back. When I'm not looking. One minute they are where they should be. The next, they are out away from the weapons racks near the center of that round area. Then, after awhile, they go back. When I am not looking. I keep waiting for a little girl to come in, sit down and say, "They're here!" [Edited for Spelling]

The above glitch is amusing. The fact that my level 32 character, the one I rolled up to be fresh and new for this DLC is freezing right and left is not at all amusing. The game is almist unplayable at this point and I haven't even finished the DLC MQ yet (I have completed Dawnguard).

So the three main glitches I have experienced so far are:

1. Blue green areas of infinity into which I fall.........(the infamous missing floor).
2. Mannequins that don't stay where they belong and don't stay dressed.
3. Game that freezes more and more often with each level. (Oh and I've turned off every autoload the game allows me to turn off, and I try to use quicksave instead of new saves). Game freezes are to the point where my character is almost unplayable.
4. Weapons disappearing on restart, reload. (Come back into the game after leaving for awhile and I have no axe, I have to get it from inventory).
5. Dragons are too easy to kill--really too easy.
6. Kinnect Shouts are unresponsive (instead of "Try Again" your software should really say "Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh?" This is worse with DB. Seriously, when the combat music is playing or you are by running water, it's almost impossible to have the kinnect recognize your shout.
[Edited to add stuff other people had and I've had as well.]

Not a 100% sure if all this issues are related to DB but I've all the DLCs and this hasn't happened to me before Dragonborn (5 chars, over 400 hours)

- Dragons won't give up their souls and won't burn up (All but the named ones, the ones Miraak steals)
- Dragons stop mid-fight and just circle the pc's position, they take no damage after that. (Fixable by traveling, so the dragons reset to idle) (5x in 20 h)
- After installing DB, all random dragons (Skyrim & Solstheim) spawn as regular grey dragons and are really easy to kill (Expert & Master difficulty, pc's Level 55, 67)
- idle magic animation in hands is often missing, empty and unusable hands even when spells are selected (they look if they're holding spells but there is no spell animation or reaction when pushing the triggers.)

- Performance:
  • ...
  • While on Solstheim I've got stuck in an endless loading screen (3 times), same 3d model but changing text (30 min before, i've decided reload the game)
  • .....[Edited to shorten]
Cleared the cache, reinstalled the DLC's, the problems remain.

This too.

Assuming you have already turned of all autosaving, and that did not work, the endless loading screen should be fixed by following the official recommendations. Clearing the system cache, deleting ALL the DLC uninstalling the game if it is installed, and then reinstalling everything (game, patch and then the DLC)
http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1426775-starting-dragonborn/page__view__findpost__p__21895466

The game freezing all the time (since Dragonborn was downloaded), missing areas that never loaded and you fall through, and the stuttering and slow motion play should also all be fixed by that method. The moving mannequins we are stuck with.

When I first saw the mannequins standing in the centre in a circle without the armor they had been wearing, I thought great, they came up with a new way to change the armor on the armor making mannequins. No luck, I was disappointed. But I have fun keeping an eye on the poses they do, some I wish they would keep.
