What do you think will trigger the quest ?

I think a courier will come to you when you enter a hold capitol.

I've been asking myself the same question! :-)

However, I suspect it will be something....................dramatic, to the point of being thunderous.
Remember when the Greybeards first called to you after you devoured that dragon's soul outside of Whiterun? I think it will be something very similar.
The 'awakening' of the first dragonborn is a momentous event. Surely the Greybeards will sense it and will call to you, summoning you for a discussion on an event which portends such potential for profound change in the world.

I would rather have to go out and find the quest trigger, I hated how in Hearthfire a courier did it.

It would be pretty cool if you hear the other Dragonborn's Thu'um calling you and you go to the Greybeards to figure out who it is.

That sounds good, maybe like something where the dragonborn feels another dragonborn presence ( awesome animation of the dragonborn hallucinating a vision or something )

I hope it will be seemless as if it has always been there. I'm hoping the dlc is targeted at lvl 30+ characters and you hear it through conversations between NPC's i,e

"I have heard rumors of problems on the island of Soltheim and apparently there is a Dunmer at the Solitude docks who is willing to take you there for the right.... incentive" or something similar. Maybe even nothing at all and simply leave the player to find it themselves without any prompting would also work for me

As I said though I am hoping it won't trigger right at the start of the game and will require a moderately powerful character

Solitude o_O I personally think Windhelm is more logical.

Both have docks so it doesn't really matter, was an example

I definitely dont want a courier cause that has happened in both DLCs and i want a more meaningful start to this epic adventure.

have to admit, that'd be an epic way to start a DLC.
