So if you make a khajiit, argonian, orc, altmer, dunmer, etc. does that even make sense? I thought that the dragonborn was intended to be a Nord.


How does making an argonian (other than the fact that they are dragon-like) character work within the fiction? Or how about an orc? Dark elf?

If your father/Mother was a Nord they could have passed it down.

He isn't necessarily a nord, it's just that the famous well known Tiber septim kind of makes it seem like that. No one truly knows how many dragonborns existed and of what race most were. It is up to akatosh to choice a champion.

I didn't think that the dragonborn had to be a Nord. I was sure that anyone can be born with the soul of a dragon, and It wouldn't make sense to limit all races apart from the Nord to being a dragonborn.

Being dragonborn is unrelated to genetics. It's a supernatural thing, any race can be one.

The dragon blood is a gift from Akatosh, and he gives it to whomever he chooses. He doesn't care about such petty things as race and gender.

That's what I thought and read.

Tiber Septim is a Nord, it is said throughout the MQ of Skyrim.

The Dragonborn can be of any race, because it is only inherited through the will of Akatosh, which is why Talos' descendants are Dragonborn.
In the simplest of terms, Akatosh determines who is born with the soul of a dragon and he decides whether or not the offspring of said Dragonborn are to be born with the soul of a dragon as well
