Dragonborn to generate new Morrowind players?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:52 am

The promo materials have been pretty Morrowindy so far. If the DLC has that in spades, do you think it will engender a new wave of Skyrim players checking out the prior game? As I've posted before, a Gamestop employee remarked about my going Skyrim>Morrowind midyear, "We've been seeing a lot of that lately." Will it be a lot more of that?

Probably. I don't think it is an entirely uncommon trend for people to enter a series at a later date, enjoy said game and then go back and play the others.

Possibly, but I think the main goal is an homage to Morrowind more than anything else.

This.

Perhaps. But then again, Oblivion didn't have anything remotely morrowind-y in it, and that
was my first game which also made me buy Morrowind.

I wouldn't be surprised.

From the looks of it there is a big influence from Morrowind (Redoran-style homes, bonemould armour, etc.) in Dragonborn so that may spark an interest in some of the TES newcomers.

They may be in for a shock (a pleasant one) if they do go back and try Morrowind

I fail to see why that would even matter.
If they do, hey great, it's a great game.

I would say not to bother if you're going to get it for xbox. PC is 20x better, and not for the usual reasons. You will get glitched sometimes and need to reload a game, with the PC version you can just use console. Also, loading times are 10 times shorter.

My first TES game was Morrowind then i played the previous ones. You only need to play the others if you are interested in past storylines, Past Protagonists or a lore nut ( like me ) Btw Morrowind is best on the PC in my opinion, so is Oblivion.

I'll probably get it for the PC then. Thanks. Now, if I could just get a faster computer...

I think it's more to maintain the older players than to get new players to play a 10 year old game.

I was one of the people who traded Skyrim away... if the reviews of the GOTY version proclaim it to be even somewhat stable (which is a stretch for PS3), I'll probably reinvest just to play Dragonborn. Dawnguard and Hearthfire don't move the needle at all for me, but this does.

I don't think you will need one lol. There's only one setting for Morrowind graphics and that is bad.

For us Morrowind players it's a blast from the past with feelings of Nostalgia. For new players it is still a new and good addition that they will love.

I got Oblivion for the PC and it was lagging quite a bit. You wouldn't say that they're of any equivalency, would you?

Not at all. My old comp from early 2000 could run MW fine, but I had to play Oblivion 64 on that system. I would reccommend getting it off steam regardless.

Better yet, what are your computer stats? If it cam out any time after 06 it should be fine.
