Dragons are the new Cliff Racers

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 2:00 am

After your 50th dragon encounter, they really start becoming more annoying than anything. I am really reminded of how annoying Cliff Racers were in Morrowind.

Anyone else see the similarities?

Yep.
Not as annoying. I like fighting dragons since I have to make use of the terrain I find myself in so I can better stay toe to toe with em. Cliffracers were just annoying thing I needed to blindly attack in the air and hope it dies.

I've killed like 7-8 in 15-20 hours of play. I haven't gotten sick of them yet, though i wished they weren't so predictable.

I've only encountered 1 non-quest related dragon in 25 hours of gameplay so they are not anything like cliff racers which appear every 0.4 seconds.

Hey don't hate on cliff racers man, each encounter with one was meaningful and exciting in Morrowind.

I've completed the main quest and I'm still getting them. Very annoying.

Then you don't walk around enough.

The randomness of dragons is what makes this game so much more fun than any other game. I have met dragons that hit a few licks and leave and some just fly by and don't even bother to ever engage, just sort of look around. I have only seen around 8 dragons in 45 hours of gameplay. If they were a more rare creature I don't know if I would have seen any at all. I guess I just have bad dragon luck? Either way I love this game with its random encounters.

PS: Two of those eight were scripted so they don't count...

I have two active play throughs at the moment and I've noticed one thing. If I walk around everywhere I come across a dragon about once every 8 hours or so on average. That's not including set dragon/shout point of interest encounters, marked by a dragon head on the map.
If you use fast travel and the carts near each stable you only seem to see them at the set points.

I had one random dragon in an icy pass and was about halfway through when I giant turn up chasing a goat turn down the pass. The giant killed the goat and promptly one hit me and then turned on the dragon, that's when the reload kicked in.
