Dragons - A little to weak for my taste.

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 2:23 pm

At level 10, I had no problem with regular dragons at all.
At 20, blood dragons were a breeze.
Now as a level 30 nord warrior, with full legendary dragonplate, and the 50% resist shield perk. Frost dragons are becoming easy as well.

I know most of you are going to say "herp derp increase difficulty".
That won't solve anything. Because the dragons are the easy ones.
I just recently got into a fight with a bandit chief, she wooped me something hardcoe. So increasing difficulty won't do anything.
Dragons need more damage in my opinion. When my frost resist is nearly 90%, a dragon should still be able to 2 shot me with his breath.
Dragons need more shouts. They should be using all of the shouts I use. I don't understand how Fus Ro Dah is a dragon shout, if the dragons aren't shouting it.

I just feel they need to be stronger. I'm sitting on 10 dragon souls without shouts to place them in. And every time I see a dragon I either think "sigh.. here we go again" Or "sigh..the tiny little guards can handle him with iron arrows".
Please increase their damage output and health, and make them use all shouts. (Especially ice form, that would be HILURIUS)

Edit: Yes I realize I said to instead of too. Go ahead grammar police.

It looks like you've buffed Smithing. Super high Smithing can make you god-like at any level.

Judging by the levels you're on, the difficulties for each dragon don't seem too unsuited. Try kitting down if you desperately want the fights to be difficult.

I was very eager to get dragonplate, so I wasted 15k on leather to get to 100.
Didn't think the armor rating would defend against dragon breath though. I wanted it for the stupid giants and bandit chiefs.

That's the thing, I feel like they should be dangerous even depending on my level.
But it's not just me that can take them. Two whiterun guards can take a frost dragon. One giant can take a frost dragon.
That's what worries me. The dragon should obliterate them within seconds.

Thats what you get for screwing up Skyrims economy with inflation of iron daggers.

They have now become the new currency.

I agree with you, but I dont think that the damage output is what needs changing; they just need more health. When you get into a fight with a dragon where the dragon refuses to land as a close range combat character, it can get very interesting, and I've had some of my best fights that way.

...but when they land i can kill them before they can even take off again. I DO do a lot of damage, but not THAT much...it would be really nice if they were more of a threat than they currently are.

I agree. I expect dragons to be fierce nearly unstoppable forces.
But I'm lvl 30 (40% of my level is from 100 smithing) and can drop named frost dragons like they aren't a threat.
However, when I fight a giant he can 2 hit me if i'm not blocking.

I just think that dragons should be more aggressive. Less flying around and more actively trying to kill the player.

I'm level 20.

I'm a melee class.

I just died upwards of twenty times against a Frost Dragon last night, about 3 of which was a finishing move performed by said Dragon while I had about 50% health and he was at approximately 0.001648% health. (I wish that was an exaggeration)

If they're buffed in any way, I just might rage into pieces. I got pretty darn close on the 20th reload last night already. The only thing I can say is that at such a level, well... maybe they should be that easy. It seems you described a pretty badass Dovahkiin in your description, so I don't see much of a problem with someone such as that pwning dragons like it's their profession--because as Dovahkiin, it is.

I'd agree that they are abit easy to kill, as a melee class i just find something to hide behind and rotate around until they land, run up and get between a wing and one of the hind legs and go to town. Usually get them down in two landings and my gear is pretty pap. Maybe casters would have more trouble, but I tend to one shot most of the dragons I've come across with little trouble

I have to agree. I am not even high level or well geared and I have no problem with dragons. I have more trouble with bandit chiefs, trolls, giants and saber cats...

IMO dragons should be at least as tough as the giants were outside Whiterun when I was level 8. I could kill them, but they would oneshot me. So I had to play smart.. Running out of reach when they were hitting and rushing into range to stab them when I had a chance.

Dragons I just flatout melee as I would any thrash mob in a dungeon.

your fighting the easy dragons is why.
im level 81 on the ps3(yes i glitched) i'm a battlemage, i wear full daedric(legendary) a daedric sword(legendary, level 100 enchanting, absorb health and frost damage) and i use my left hand for casting grand healing.

im on expert difficulty, and if i'm not on my complete a-game against ANCIENT dragons, then they will land, use their fire breath and i will die during that very first fire breath, and sometimes if i don't heal in time i only get about 40% hp back after the fire breath and he takes 2 steps and uses his finishing move on me and i die instantly.

so coming from a level 81 in full daedric, over 460 hp, you CAN die in 1HIT from an ancient dragon, frost dragons i can kill 2 at a time and i have many times.

Only at 13, but have killed them... though as a Mage, had to plan my attacks, spells and buffs. What I found funny as heck is that the Dragons seemed easy....compared to this one Undead Dude in a Dungeon! Swear I had to just close the door on him and leave him there... figure go back later when I got some skills!
But swear, nothing I threw at him did a damn thing... yet cast similar spells (if not less of them too) on a dragon and killed them.

Although they still get my blood flowing when they suddenly appear outta nowhere! LOL

Beat me to it. Their tactics seem to need changing, rather than their abilities and their values.

I am surprised myself at how relatively easy the average dragon is to kill after that first one, while other things like the undead dragon lords/draugir bosses, frost trolls and sabre cats can be pretty devastating to me at the same level or difficulty setting. Doesn't bother me too much really as I don't want the game to be too hard and enjoy my victories, but on a scale of most likely to kill me quickly, I'm surprised that some dragons turn out to be less of a threat than a sabre cat or frost troll.

I definitily agree, I've killed two dragons so far and I am level 6. Real easy to kill them once they are on the ground.

I don't understand how any melee would have a problem with them.

All you have to do is block, and shield bash when they make the slightest attack. Your character is so incredibly strong he knocks the dragons head sideways, allowing you to go to town.
Not to mention when you mark of death it, and then use flame breath.
I'm hoping these "ancient dragons" have some serious attack power.
I can negate nearly all damage from frost dragons as a nord with the 50% reduction shield perk.
Did I mention I only have 200 health? 90% of points are in stamina.

I just think they need stat upgrades.
Dragons should be LONG fights. That are hard even when the guards are pelting it with arrows.
I can literally sit back and say I watched two whiterun guards kill a dragon without my help.
They aren't dragonborn. They have crap armor. Which leads to the fact that the dragon just wasn't that good.

I'm playing on Master difficulty, lvl 16 assassin and I found normal Dragons to be challenging enough...I need to use everything in my arsenal to beat them, but now I can kill the beasts. One error, I'm screwed and they destroy me.
I'm fine with that...only killed 3 Dragons so far (2 fire, 1 frost) but I loved those fights, expecially the second when the Dragon attacked the farms ourside whiterun and killed 1 guard and 2 farmers before dying.

I felt so badass...then I met a BEAR and that fight is just impossible lol

Anyway, imho Dragons need more resistance to "normal" damage (guards, townfolks, GIANTS, BEARS lol), a cleave-like attack and immunity to stunlocks

EDIT: oh yeah and use more shouts...
