Dragons not appearing

Post » Thu Nov 29, 2012 11:22 pm

I have a character who is level 22 and pretty early on I did the quest to trigger the dragons but have still not had a single random dragon encounter. I killed the first dragon at the tower, and then the one with Delphine at kynesgrove and have all three words of fus roh da, but still no dragons. I know they are somewhat random but it seems like this is a glitch. I must have killed the dragon near whiterun at level five and am level 22 now. I know a lot of people would be happy because a lot of dragons can be annoying, but I wanted this character to have a lot of shouts and am not getting souls for them. Anyone else experience anything like this?

I was fast traveling all the time, and waiting too. Nothing.

Seems odd; Maybe one of your updates got corrupted. Try to reinstall game to your hard drive and install the updates again...
other than that, im not sure

Keep your save data; just delete the game data. You can also back up your save data to a ram stick just in-case.

Yep. Same problem. It was discussed on a thread on here somewhere. Can't find it now but i'm sure it was started by a mod. If you're interested, have a look for it and maybe it will help? In the end for me, I just gave up looking for random attacks and just hunted them at Word Walls. svcks but meant I was able to collect some souls.

Have you tried advancing the MQ furhter? Dragons become more frequent the deeper into the quest you go.

Cap_and_gown is correct. My current character did the trigger at level 12, and only saw 2 random dragons by level 35 (no power levelling)...at the high 50's, he's still got more shout words than souls for them, but hasn't progressed too far into the MQ still.

I have the feeling that Beth may have put a restriction patch in regarding the dragons due to the multitude of complaints some time back about there being too many dragons.

Maybe so; I am on my second play through with a new build. I will relay my update tomorrow after I play for a few hours tonight

Really? This is the first character this has happened to for me, and I made a ton of characters. It doesn't seem likely Bethesda would respond to people complaining about dragons, considering they never bothered to fix a ton of stuff related to perks that are still broken and easy to fix. Don't get me started.

Honestly when you're consistently plagued by Dragons at the most inopportune moment you will look back at this and cry.

But why does it only happen when I build a character who is designed to get a bunch of shouts?

I've had it with a couple of characters now, and all since I installed Dawnguard/Hearthfire and patch 1.8. I agree with you about the patch-fixes, the process seems very bi-polar.

Update: During my gameplay yesterday I got up to level 8 and I only occured 1 additonal dragon which flew past me and over the mountain tops. Seems like the patch limits the interactions with dragons and more periodolcaly.
